Hmm.. I too would suggest host gator. I have heard big things about ultrahost but I think its rumours.

What are your requirements? How much disk space and bandwidth are you looking for and yes what is your budget?

The best option is to do a little search in the forum and make a list of hosts that you think will fit into your nreeds. Then consider factors like uptime statistics, level of customer support, response times etc which will help you top narrow down the list.
Try to ask them a question or two which will help you to see how fast they respond.
