Type of Contest: Catalog Layout
Prize: $100.00 to winner of contest + $150, or more, for the winner to complete the project (front/back cover and catalog pages for ~20 products)
Contest End Date & Time: August 20th (2nd Friday from tomorrow)
Size Requirements: 5.5" X 8.5" plus 1/4" bleed
Color Requirements: Black/Yellow/White (see attached images below)

Additional Information: NJOY has 2 models of electronic cigarettes, a cigarette style (NPRO) and a pen style (NCIG). Our online catalog has product images, descriptions and prices. This contest is only for a sample layout of a product page. The rest of the catalog design will take place after a winner is chosen. This needs to look professional, as it will be mailed to retail customers and will be next to display cases in retail stores.

Feel free to be creative. Design restrictions aren't that limited, and I will be providing feedback after each entry. I may end the contest early if someone comes up with what I feel is the perfect look.

Two things:

1) Please post all your entries in the thread so it's fair to others.
2) Those are brochures. The brochures in my OP are not the project, only examples of colors. What we are creating is a product catalog for print, like you would receive in the mail from Best Buy, etc. showing the products and prices. It's a 5.5" X 8.5" booklet.

One or two makes the most sense. Just a sample of products from our online catalog and lay them out nicely as if they were in a printed catalog.

Oops, must be a new thing. I've run 5 or 6 NP contests in the past and most of them were for 2 weeks.

Do you have any higher resolution images of the products?

Yes, for most, but you shouldn't need them right now. There should be 2 or 3 products on each catalog page at the very minimum and the catalog pages are only 5.5" x 8.5", so I'm not sure how big the images can really get anyway.

If it helps, you can get better images for many of the products just by going to each individual product page on the website and clicking the images on the right. Like this: njsmokes.com/njoy-npro-starter-kit-white

You're on the right track with the product listing. The black/white header and tan wave should be saved for one appearance on the front cover, otherwise it gets too busy on every page. Play around with the background to give it a little something extra instead of just a plain yellow.

I won't comment on the first design (cover), since that will be taken care of post-contest.

I like the background of the 2nd design. Red doesn't quite do it. Try more black/white and maybe with a hint of the cover design to it (white lines), but not too much since we're going to save that for later.

Better. The bottom left and footer look great. Love the idea to have the product style (NPRO or NCIG) listed at the bottom of each page.

Be creative with the product layout. A simple list or grid is better for a website than an actual print catalog. Think about what a catalog from Radio Shack or Sears would look like if you got it in the mail.

I'm also going to extend the deadline to Monday at midnight Eastern time to allow entries from those who are currently working on something and others would want to jump in.

Very cool...I just thought they were white lines until you said something. Leave the whole footer for now. We may add more to it (phone #, website, etc.) later.

Yes smghost, MUCH more like it. I'm not sure if we're going to get that many products on a page, since it's only 5.5 x 8.5 but don't sweat that for now. Looks really good.

Can you play around with the fonts a little? Also, add the phone number 888-501-NJOY (6569) to the middle of the footer in either white or yellow (whatever you think looks best). We've decided to put the phone # on right-side pages and the web address on left-side pages.
