Seeing the entries you posted made me realize the logo may be more effective if it did actually feature the company name. I've updated the initial post to reflect my updated requirements.

Here are my thoughts on the two entries you've made.

01) The cloud looks too buff! I also think that he's got too much going on (i.e. goggles, helmet, and scarf). I'm leaning towards something more simplistic.

02) The abstract person looks a little awkward, perhaps because he is comprised of several wavy pieces. He also looks like he's teetering on the cloud, and could get blown off any second! I'd prefer a look of confidence and stability.

Here's some feedback on your idea:
I like the simplicity used in both colours and not cluttering the logo with really specific details.

The rimmed hat driver and horses silhouette makes me think of the wild west, which isn't something that I'd want to associate with the company. Also, I'd like to see the company name "Flying Nimbus" worked in somehow.

The rocket idea is neat, but the way the rocket looks reminds me of a super sheep from Worms, largely because of the shape of the constituent parts. I like how you have it coming out of the box boundary though. The cloud in the background looks identical to the rocket cloud; I would like to see something differentiating the main cloud from any auxiliary clouds.

The font for "Flying Nimbus" looks a little plain. Perhaps that can be spiced up a bit.

Thanks for your entry! I really like the bubbly central cloud as well as how its framed within a set of wings. The "Flying Nimbus" font is different; I like that. I like the versatility of the main constituent of the logo; it works well with the cloudy background and can hold its own on a plain background. I also like the simplicity of the winged cloud in the foreground. Great!

I'd like to see what the effect would be if the wings attached to the cloud looked more like feathery wings (perhaps like a bird or an angel). I also think a sky blue may work better than the teal colour you have.

I like the general idea of a cloud with wings!

I'd like to see the wings being more proportionate to the cloud. It looks like a baby cloud with the tiny wings it has at the moment. Wings that are less cartoony would probably fit more with my vision of the logo too. With the text colour scheme the way you have it, there is an emphasis on "nimbus". I don't want to put an emphasis on either of the words.

The new wings resonates better with image of the company than baby wings you had earlier - great! However, I don't think they fit as well with this manifestation of a cloud; the cloud is bubbly and cutesy, while the wings look more regal and serious. Can the cloud be tweaked to fit the wings better?

I think a colour scheme that offers more contrast may be more appealing to me. Right now, everything is awash with blue. The cloud almost looks like a puddle of water with the way it's currently coloured.

The new rendition of the cloud doesn't quite look like a cloud. Instead, I find that it resembles an H2O (water) molecule!*

It wasn't as apparent before, but the wings on the cloud doesn't seem to mesh well together. It looks like two pieces forced together. *

I am actually quite charmed by Catfish's approach where a cloud is wholly encompassed by a wing-like frame. *I'd like to see if adding feathery features to such a design will make it outstanding.
