Reputation Power?

I just noticed my Rep power at another forum is 3 points (the amount of Rep I give when I give Rep at that forum).. I don't see any way of telling that here.. is there any way to find out how much Rep I'm handing out per instance? Just curious.. I only have 233 + Rep there (only been there a couple weeks) and over 6000 here so wondering how many points I give out? Is there a default max or is that set by the forum admin?

I just got my 3rd or 4th neg over at DP (out of 66 positive) but the neg reppers never identify themselves and neg me for the dumbest and unrelated reasons.

Not for this thread... but I know in the time its been broken I should have getten a few.

I guess that makes me an idiot, too. Sigh... I can see where the abuse would come into play with negative reps. Apparently if someone doesn't agree with you, you're a bad member. :lol:

Thats only bad thing i see at DP. some members use neg rep system in bad way. Once i saw that guy got neg's for telling xbox sux. When you tell yr opinion someone not agree you get bad rep. Other wise its a great forum where i have learned most about Adsense

I haven't checked my Rep value there. Where could you find it at DP ?

This board is taking after the world today, you cant say a bad word about anyone without you being the one in the wrong. You cant even punish your kids without someone reporting you.

I'll agree with you there -- maybe we should just cover up post counts and rep bars so nobody has to see it. I'm sure it would decrease spam, and there wouldn't be unnecessary controversy surrounding the rep system.

Or just not have it at all, but then I use it as a partial indicator of whether I'll do business with someone.. certainly helps in that respect a bit.

I could have had 500 people give me pos rep and 1,000 give me neg rep. You would never know...

Not coz like to get +rep like I said i don't even know where do i can check it at DP. I don't really bother about rep. But there should be some rules if you give neg's. at DP many simply read the post give neg and go away. if they don't like the post then they should post that in thread and say why.

To keep neg rep system clean they should show who gave negs and should enter a reason, a good on. If the reason is not good then negs should return back to person who gave them. maybe by mods

Here its better coz if you don't agree or don't like you have to post in the thread or stay out of it. If you post and then there's a open discussion where you can say why u dont agree with reasons.

I think it all comes down to this... Does the staff review the negative feedback that is left? If so, then there is a controlled system in place where appropriate negative feedback is left.

If they don't, then like Zurax has said, the system is indeed broken.

They say all neg reps are looked at then approved or disapproved I dont believe it is being checked...

I like the system at WebTalk.. they have a VB plugin that allows people to THANK you for a good post.. no need for negs because if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!

Seriously, postive feedback is more important IMO.. it allows you to thank someone for good info or a good post while if you disagree, you can simply reply or PM the poster.. no need for negs. You don't like the post(er), report them to the Admins or put them on ignore.

You find your rep value in your user panel. It should be under

New Subscribed Threads.

Latest Reputation Recieved. It should also tell you how many rep points you have.

And no worries. I had been a member of DP since 1/06 with over 2200 posts and 71 iTraders 6 green bubbles. And no infractions and all expired since 4/2/07. So I have been at 0 infractions for the last 5 months. And as of today I got 10 infractions within 2 hours(12:45 - 2:30 pm/PST) 2 of the infractions were provided with links to the infractions the remaing 8 had no links to the infractured threads. The ban will last until 11/25/07(yup day before Thanksgiving). So yeah I whined.

But anyways.......

It is nice though to be able to hand out + rep when and where needed and to those who have deserved it for appropiate actions. A nice reward system. I do see use it unnecessarily here, at DP and elsewhere as well.

While no system is perfect, the one in place at NP is fine for the most part. I tend to check more than a persons rep, I also look at trader feedback, and especially if I am going to do business with someone I will check back on their previous posts...it gives me some indication. On one other forum, one I shall not name here, the Admin gave me some ridiculous amount simply becuase I was a "girl" and from some place exotic, and I'd only had 10 posts. That's pretty lame...

Of course as one who started on this forum one year ago, I was a newbie with nada. And, it seems there is a merit system in place depending on how you are involved. I do wonder about those who have been "banned" especially when I see a gazillion greenboxes and stars next to their name, I wonder what might they have done?

Yes some abuse the power of repping unnecisarily. While others dont.

Namepros and some of DP administration do a wonderful job.
