I just noticed my Rep power at another forum is 3 points (the amount of Rep I give when I give Rep at that forum).. I don't see any way of telling that here.. is there any way to find out how much Rep I'm handing out per instance? Just curious.. I only have 233 + Rep there (only been there a couple weeks) and over 6000 here so wondering how many points I give out? Is there a default max or is that set by the forum admin?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Here it depends on how much you give out, how many times you been repped, and the amount of time you have been a member. I have no idea how many rep points you give out though. :D

Me neither  To be honest, I rarely rep unless I feel it's really appropriate or deserved but asking out of curiosity. One forum I go to allows you to either Rep or Thank for a post.. I'm not sure what the distinction is but I "thank" people quite often, but still rarely rep.

I can see everyone's rep power from admin controls. I don't believe it displays anywhere else.

Dave.. :o It says you have a rep power of 75. I have a 52 rep power. That's a lot of rep to give out for every instance!

Is it set so that the more you give out, the less your rep is worth?

I bet that means I have low power... :D

In my opinion the rep system here is worthless since we cant give negative reps. Well we can but they need to be approved and I dont know if they are even approved regularly...

Really? I wasn't aware of that! That doesn't seem fair in a way that you can give positive but not a neg..

I wasn't aware of that either... I guess it helps keep people from giving negative rep for stupid reasons.

Whats to stop giving pos rep for stupid reasons?
Its one of the reasons I hardly post here anymore. If I feel you deserve a neg rep then I should be able to give you one.

If someone abuses it then suspend or ban them for it. If someone wines because someone gave them a neg rep point then tell them they have to live with it and to move on. If they make a big deal out of it then suspend or ban them.

I don't believe I have ever seen a red reputation on NP, ever. It could be as you say because they need approving. If that's the case, mine will never get approved!

I Positive rep for everything. I also negative rep for everything. If negative reps don't even work, what's the point in the rep system?

All I can say is that I prefer the NamePros rep system over that of DigitalPoint, where anyone can leave negative rep for no reason.

An example of such would be when I kindly pointed out in a member's sale thread that what he was selling wasn't unique and was a generic MFA website.

Someone, I'm presuming him, then left me negative rep and this message:

why you have to bang the thread n00b

That above is exactly the kind of immaturity that comes with the power to add negative rep without supervision.

But there to give a negative rep, you get one yourself, I'm sure.

ApeXX, thats the type of wine that got the neg reps removed.
If we cant have both pos and neg then it needs to just be removed altogether.
Its kind of "fraud"/misguiding the way it is now.

I'll bet if negs were allowed I'd have no where near the positive I have!

I like the system at WebTalk.. they have a Thanks icon at the bottom of each post and a Buy Me A Beer icon as well! :)

Whine? Heh, as far as I can tell I was just explaining a situation and how a member abused the system.

You keep saying that we don't have negative, but we do. I'm sure the mods approve appropriate negative feedback, so as long as that's the type you usually leave, why should it matter?

Or are you part of the group that leaves the "bad thread n00b" negative feedbacks? :|

Nope I dont leave negs like that.
I know I should have recieved a neg here by now but nope none yet.
Just see the rep system as a wate of resources if its pos rep only...
Maybe Ill start leaving "Would give you a neg rep for this post but rep is broken." instead of neg reps then everyone will end up as high a rep power as dav3.us...

Why should you have received a negative rep? Because you expressed an opinion different than others?

See that's the problem with the negative rep power. People leave it for, I'll say it again, stupid reasons that don't make any sense. You've done nothing in the thread to warrant negative rep, yet you were expecting it.

Could that be because you're so used to members from other forums abusing the power?
