So delete my post but leave up trolls that post off topic stuff? Continually? Brilliant. It was a serious question. Do you have robots help modding now? It seems that way when you get canned responses as if they didn't even actually read what's reported. Or you just like drama off topic stuff because it contributes to post count? I really can't figure it out, seriously. So not so much community driven.

One more suggestion. Are you ever going to get a search that works? Or will people always have to use site:namepros via Google? Was searching for something earlier and had to go to Google.

Delete, then move.

Another suggestion, to make sure it's not a robot. How about names with the responses, so people know who they're talking to. I have no idea who actually reads these things.

You didn't ask a question in the post that was deleted. You made a cryptic statement (or rhetorical question) and then you wrote the word "Ridiculous" after it, which is rude and not constructive.

About the report:
If you received a response from a report that you were not satisfied with, then you may provide the details about the situation and the response you received, so that we can investigate it and provide more details on the matter.

About search:
What issues are you experiencing with search? I use it every day, and I haven't experienced any issues. Have you filed a Tech Support ticket? I wasn't able to find one from you.

The forum software that we use, XenForo (XF), made two design choices that are relevant here:

1. XF chose not to publicly show which moderators perform mod actions. I agree with this because moderators change over time (some step down because they're too busy, new ones join, etc.) and if their usernames were shown throughout the site as performing mod actions, some members may still think they're moderators and reach out to them for assistance. This is a problem that we experienced on our previous forum software, because some of those defunct moderators no longer login anymore and the members requesting help never receive a response.

2. XF does not provide an easy and intuitive way for members involved in a report to reply to the report. You can still reply by reporting the same post again with a new message (your reply), assuming that what you reported wasn't deleted. I consider this a design flaw in XF: reporters should always have an easy way to reply to reports. Hopefully XF will improve it in the future.

If you disagree with a decision that was made on a report, then you may create a thread in our Management support forum and request that it be reconsidered. If you do so respectfully and constructively to express your viewpoint on the situation, then chances are good that we will see your side of it and reconsider the action that was taken to resolve the report.

Search has never worked. I and others have brought this up. You suggested using Google before. It didn't work for me when I made the post above. Here is another example today of it not working - https://www.namepros.com/threads/it.935416/

Eric
"For now, till we are able to get more into that area of our development / upgrade projects, try to use google with the following sequence: "site:namepros.com text" .. Text = search phrase you want to find on NamePros."

That's how I've had to search NamePros if I want to find something.

https://www.namepros.com/threads/search-site-issues.814656/#post-4620811

The person who liked your post above mine is taking a few days off from the forum because somebody went on some delete fest, deleting 3 members posts, unnecessarily.

You know the troll I'm talking about. Sometimes you handle it, sometimes you don't. You say you give them warnings. Either that's not true or warnings mean nothing if they keep doing it. I don't know if you have different mods looking at it and some make the right decision and the others don't care. It should be consistent.

As far as:

"XF chose not to publicly show which moderators perform mod actions. I agree with this because moderators change over time"

I'm talking about if somebody reports a thread. I get an alert on what was done with it. I have no idea who I'm talking too. There should be a name with it. Has nothing to do with mods changing over time.

It was long ago when I recommended using Google. That was fixed many moons ago.

Here is another example today of it not working - https://www.namepros.com/threads/it.935416/

Searching for "this unknown" turns it up in the first result.

Certain keywords are too common and therefore ignored: "it" is one of them. "The" is another.
@Paul Buonopane may decide to change that.

Search is working as intended in this case.

No it's not. I tried putting .it in the title, nothing. Look at the link above. I found the .it threads using Google. That's not working search if I have to use Google to find threads.

Apparently it's not working if mad409 couldn't find .it threads using NP search and I had to find them using Google. So we still need to use Google to find stuff. And the search I was talking about was a couple of words, forgot what it was but I remember I had to use Google to find all the threads. That search had plenty of characters, didn't use the word the. So it's still an issue.

Forget about the other stuff in the thread, it's the usual stuff I don't expect anything to be done about.

I never liked the idea of ANON MODS.
Report and it is ANON.
Hard to reply back to get a good answer when the mod is ANON.
If mods here are afraid to have their name shown when they take an action, then maybe they should not be mods?
Just my last thoughts for tonight.

Google is the best search engine ever built, to my knowledge. To suggest that our search or any other website's search is going to be as good as Google's search is unrealistic. We're using the best tools available for the job, but they do not compare to Google - at least, not in today's world.

So Google can do the whole (well not the whole thing) internet and you can't do 1 forum? And isn't that kind of flip flopping on what you said. I said I had to use Google, you said search was fine here. Now you're saying Google is the best ever. It's kind of like you saying just use Google. That's have I have been doing to find stuff.

The amount of data that is being searched is irrelevant; the search algorithms are causing the difference.

Just replace your search with a Google search box then and be done with it.

The issue you referred to previously when I said to use Google was completely different: standard searches were not working well. We fixed that long ago.

Our search works perfectly fine for me and for everyone else 99% of the time, to our knowledge. If you find a few cases where Google performs better, that's expected. They're Google.

Google doesn't index everything. They also don't have access to all of the data on NamePros: conversations, private forums, etc.

It helped me find .it threads mad409 was looking for and the stuff I was looking for the other day when NP didn't. So your suggestion before to use Google was a good one. It works, I'll just use that. Not a big deal.

If you have more examples, we'll be happy to look into them to see whether it's a shortcoming of the search algorithm or a bug. It's possible there are bugs that cause some searches not to perform well, but we haven't come across any in a long time.
