This sale gave me depression a year after I sold it..

onlygains.com
Sale date - April 2020
Cost - $8 (drop reg)
Sale price - $380
Hold time - Like 5 months

It was one of the first domains I bought. I bought it due to the play on onlyfans & the angle I used to pick it was onlygains could be a site for bodybuilders..

Fast forward to 2021 when the crypto bullrun happened I receive about 3 offers via domain agents from different people. Highest one was $8000 & the lead was literally begging me for it so I could have easily countered 5 figures and got that sale. Gains was a hot keyword in crypto & onlyfans was a big meme. Unfortunately I had sold it for $380 and the buyer didn't change whois, so enquiries were coming to me. I have been hoping it would drop so I can contact them but have lost all hope..

After 4 years I have stopped hoping it will drop again so I'm reporting it now lol..

I generally don't report sales; it's not a 'rule', but I have my reasons.

However, this week I sold my first domain that was using the Namepros lander, so I thought I'd contribute that sale here as another testament that they do work.

B // u // g // D // a // d // d // y (dawt com) - I do like the info the landers provide with the inquiries; showed that this person was a software developer for Apple in California. His email addy was also on the Apple business (office) servers, so I knew he was a legit employee. I assumed he was buying it for the company or for part of his work there. I had it listed at $7.5k. His first offer was 2K. We went back and forth a bit, settled on final price of 3.5K.

Your question: why did I go down so much? - Because I originally had the domain priced near that lower amount, and had just recently doubled the BIN. Also, few months ago I had an offer of 500 from a pest control guy and I had decided to liquidate the domain for that price. However, he stopped answering emails, so obviously lost interest. Had a couple more inquiries this year, one offer at $1K which I turned down (I know, I know, I can be fickle with prices). Finally I figured 'the market has spoken' and this is the price range this domain will sell for. So I happily accepted this 3.5k offer.

edit: they payed via bank wire, we didn't go through any market or escrow.

I originally paid $64, Dropcatch auction, hold time 2.5 years. This was one of my 'busiest' domains, lots of inquiries and lowball offers ever since I got it. After the transaction was done, I asked what they were using the domain for; he said they were actually starting a side project, just him and a couple other developer friends, not Apple, for a new pesticide project. Since this was after the transaction was done, no reason for him to lie about it. I'll assume it's the truth... unless I see a new Apple $1billion dollar project up on it in the next year, ha.

Anyway, I enjoyed the process of self-negotiation enabled by the Namepros landers, and the ease of being able to check out a lot of buyer details on my own, before I email them. I now have 105 domains with these NP landers, though most of my domains are still with Afternic landers.

Speaking of Afternic landers, this week I also sold:

i // R // e // m // e // m // b // e //r // e // d (dawt com) - for $6,499. Afternic BIN, Fast Transfer, on Afternic lander. Paid $30 at Godaddy expired auctions. Hold time 10 months. I thought this was a great name for gift cards, greeting cards, obituary sites, lots of uses. I'll be interested to see what they build on it. The name used to have two different trademarks, around 2008 and 2019, but they both only lasted for about a year and are abandoned.

No further deets, thanks.

Okay, back to not reporting sales. Unless I get another through NP landers, then I'll post again :)

Since Mr. Bannen came out of the 'domainer closet' to share a sale, so will I. This is the FIRST one I've ever shared and I do it as public service so others might avoid my error.

I too got my first lead on this name thru the NamePros landers. For sooooo many reasons it was moved around between NamePros, Godaddy and Dynadot landers.

I've had an issue with the Godaddy checkout link not being functional so late last night I began finding the way to activate a LTO (I'd used the checkout link several times before, but now it is not cooperating). So, I determined a minimum sale price knowing that 2 people had been interested in the name...one in Europe and one in USA. I entered that number and began putting in different lease terms from 6 months to 60 months and looking at how that altered the payment and what the increase in fees would be. (as a side note, I would have gladly used Dynadot for the sale but both buyers balked at the higher first payment they require)

At some point, I dozed off, still sitting at the computer...I finally came back around and stumbled into bed. Upon waking early this AM, I checked emails as usual. That's when the Afternic assurance email stood out. Then, before opening the email, I remembered what was happening just hours before...panic set in as I could not remember the lease term I played with last. The name is a COM...no further details than below.

Name: O / u / d / o / o / r / s / v / i / l / l / e
Acquisition: Auction - $20
Registrar: Dynadot
Sale Venue: Godaddy/Afternic (custom lander)
Hold Time: 1 year 2 months (14 months)
Sale Price: 6,888

Original offer was 500 (from both buyers) and I'm not sure which one picked it up (EDIT: one offer came in at 100 upon review). One is actively building a site for selling outdoor equipment, the other buyer never shared their plans. It took many exchanges over a couple of weeks to get both buyers to 4K. BTW, this is a name I had planned to develop, but we all have a bunch of those!

So, the lesson learned is to not 'play' with pricing or LTO terms late at night...always enter your top dollar figure rather than your bottom dollar figure while 'playing' (my full retail price was 9.9K). As I've posted in other threads, the payments will allow me to dine out a few times monthly at places that I do not have to stand in line to serve myself or where I run the risk of running into a clown or some goofy redheaded girl selling me square burgers.

2025 has been terrible for me, but this week I finally had this retail sale! :giggle:
WandCC-minimal.jpg

The name was sold through Afternic, but it ended up going to Namecheap, so I think bought via the standard network coverage there. I had it listed on Atom Sapphire and NS pointed to Atom, so I had a 25% commission charge.

I acquired the domain name in 2022 through my daily search for dropping words using ExpiredDomains filters. I had registered it for 4 years, due to multiyear deal in .cc at Dynadot.

What did I see in the name? Well-known dictionary word, 4-letter, one-syllable, could be applied to many things, with a dash of magic, what's not to love?

The sale is reported and in today's NameBio report. I reported venue as my Memorable.cc site.

Acquired reg fee 2019
Brandpa said it was too close to Scalable, and so it could get "confused" and thus undesirable.
Buyer on Atom initial offer this week was $1500 saying they'll buy it today and urgently messaged me.

I figured it wasn't true so i accepted, also i felt bad bevcause they needed it today, and accepted because it sounds like they'd lower it if i tried to negotiate.
