The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Though my niche is a Multimillion Dollar industry, so I think I have found something to start with as a newbie.

everyone has an opinion and tactics that work with them. nothing should be granted for sure. searches and "multi-million dolar" industries don't mean as much as people think and tell. not saying that they don't have value or reason. just that they are too hyped. the bigger sales I had (5 and 6 figures) *not one* were traffic names or multimillion dollar industries. by the contrary, the best traffic and best paying keywords were somewhat disappointing sales. besides having in some cases contacted several players and in other cases having users come to me, rarely they have paid what should be seen as fair given the stats. worst, the guys with more money to spent are many times the less open to spend more.

there are lots of factors involved and yes, luck helps too.

regards,
tonecas

You know you are doing it right when they say "thanks for the domains Mike... Let me know if you have any more in the future" (I actually get this)

Why do companies need/want many domains? Type-ins are typically rare, and pointing several domains to the same site/service (i.e., doorway pages) leads to penalties with the search engines.

Anyone want to explain?

I thought pointing several domains to the same site leads to more traffic to your site...not penalties. www.EyeDoctor.com points to 1800contacts.com It's been that way for a while but their ranks are not hurt by doing this.:-/

it depends on the way you forward the url to the other site. having more than one domain pointing to another is not a problem per se.

do a google search on the subject...

Okay, I will do that...but with Go Daddy there's only one way to forward a domain.
