Replacing a letter for a number

What do you guys think of replacing a letter for a number?

Let's say for example, www.DOM4IN.com.

This will reduce value, but does it make it worthless? I have my eye on a short .com domain which looks semi-okay with a number replacement.

If it doesn't pass the radio test, not only a waste of money, it shows no true knowledge of the use of/for a domain name.

Nah, there is no way to drop a letter for a number will make a domain sound or look good.

When I first started out, I had owned just one of those type of domains. Before letting it drop, I listed on GD Auctions and was able recover my money by selling it for only ten bucks. Not worth the time in my opinion and I have no plans to register those type of names again.

Although I would not mind having l33t or h4x0r.com for entertainment value

It has to be really short and has to represent a more informal marketplace, IMO.

For example I own c4ms.com (cams) I've gotten inquiries.

But if it's something like "Banklo4ns.com" or "CreditCh3ck" then no.

Dom4in might work because the domain industry involves people that are usually internet savvy and are familiar with that old h4ck3r text theme, it wouldn't be worth much though, maybe low - mid $xx if someone liked it, which there could be someone.
