Guys and Girls before you submit an auction on Namepros can you have the decency to remove your domain from all other marketplaces......

I see it all the time where there is an auction thread on here and the OP has the name listed everywhere else at the same time.

I am pretty sure some people inflate their Sedo, DAN, Epik, Afternic (etc etc) prices to try and lure in unsuspecting bidders/buyers.......

Do the right thing and remove your name and make the auction exclusive to Namepros.....

Also, If you sell a name on Namepros via make offer or BIN, remove it from all market places after the transaction has been completed....

Not hard to do.......

Happens all the time at various marketplaces. A name, or anything, is not sold until it's sold.

(Not arguing for either side here, just saying)

Marketplaces have rules for this set in place. Sedo will ban non-payers, etc.

This just opens a can of worms in the end; If I don't like the price my NamePros auction is going to end at, I could just "cancel" the auction if we were allowed to prematurely end.

For those saying the names should not be exclusive:

If you have an auction with bidders and you back out of the auction midway (in this case, sold on another marketplace), do the moderators not take action?

It's the mirror opposite of making a bid on an auction and not paying.

If you invested your time tracking/bidding on an auction for a week โ€” only to have the owner cancel โ€” would that be fair to you?
Did you ever tried godaddy auctions, how many of them were cancelled? It's a compromise between reducing a marketplace to a fraction of what it is or having an auction cancelled out of 30-40 you participate.

We don't know the entity on the other end in these cases.

NamePros is a community, if we can prevent _____, why would we not?

I understand the majority here doesn't care about the rest of the members, but it is very unprofessional to go back on your word or waste people's time. It only harms your sales in the end.

The way I feel about this whole situation is that the names auctioned here are generally junk and wouldn't sell on a marketplace in the tiny time frame that auctions last anyways.

That shows how many times have you participated or listed a domain here. Personaly, just in 2919 I've sold over 14k worth of domains, my buyers from here sold some of the domains bought from me to end users lot's of times, for a total of at least xxxxx every year, and yes, I've had multiple times when a domain was listed with bin(I don't do auctions any more here) and was sold somewhere else in the meantime. Also, I've had situations when someone posted SOLD, but until a few hours later, when I've seen it, the domain has been sold through a fast transfer network, so it was not in my account anymore, so I could not do anything, even if I wanted. What are you saying, it's just your view from a buyers perspective( hopping for a bargain), without considering the seller views.

I understand if they don't have an account somewhere but if someone has owned a domain for multiple months and not bothered to remove it from other marketplaces so they can list it, what does that say about the owner? How can this not be their responsibility?

Most people have an afternic account for example....

So we are in agreement. The member who has listed it for sale has a responsibility to remove it. But not for those he hasn't listed for sale and doesn't know about.

"generally junk"

I don't bargain surf as it isn't worth the time when I just sell in the shadows. If you're worried about selling at a "bargain", don't list an auction on NamePros. (Which you no longer do)

In your view, you're only worried about yourself and not considering the buyer's views; Remember, buyers are the ones that put money in your pocket. As I said, this only affects your sales in the end.

If your auction has 2 bidders because the 3rd didn't bid due to bad past experiences with you, you just stunted your sale price by xx%. This ends up compounding.

Why do successful businesspersons/companies spend so much time and money on reputation and customer experience? Why do these entities pay me $xxxx for a simple consult to improve their reputation and CX? It's in the data.

Keep a good reputation, don't stomp on it.

Did you checked my reputation and notice so many bad reviews? No, it's not about my view, it's about a healthy marketplace, because doing this you are killing it. The buyers are to one's who put money in my pocket or I'm the one's who I'm selling them good domains, to make more money, so this goes both ways.
Why do you think that godaddy runs auctions and lot's of times cancel them? Do you think that sedo/afternic, if somebody hits bin and you don't own that domain anymore, the seller gets banned? Not very often, maybe only if you are doing it all day, because they will loose most of they sellers if they will start banning everybody like this.

And there it is.

If you think this is ok, I think we should get together for a cup of tea, and discuss selling etiquette.

I've sold over 350 domains here in 2017 and selling over 250 domains every year so let me know when you will do at least as much and you can teach me anything you want. I've had domains keeped in my account for over one year after I've sold them(they didn't wanted to move them right away), that show my trust and business etiquette.

It looks like we are

Need to respond to the ones I don't agree with now......which is half the fun

If you want. I'm just trying to understand the justification of why something should be different here than elsewhere because 'you' want it to be. And no worries, your sarcasm came thru.
You start an auction with the intent that the highest bidder will win and take ownership of the name , having that listed on multiple platforms defeats the object somewhat. Your basically saying if a better offer or BIN comes along In the mean time then screw all the bidders. This does not sit right with me.

Oh, I still haven't checked the "rules" ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Nope it's not the current owners responsibility if they never placed them at someplace where he doesn't even have an account, or where in most cases he is not recognized as the owner, and so the site won't take instructions from him. He should, of course bare responsibility for any domains where he has placed them, to remove them.

So if a person intentionally starts an auction and leaves BIN and make offers on other marketplaces what is your view?

This is the point - I have seen multiple auctions here on Namepros where the OP has a BIN price set on other marketplaces...I do not think it is right....

There are not any auctions on Afternic, which seems you major point of focus. So it's not a problem to reject any Make Offers, as @mapleleaf said. So if it sells at Afternic, when it's in auction on NP's, it's a major violation of NPs rules. And should be dealt with accordingly.

Thanks for the input,

Afternic is not my sole focus just mentioned the first marketplace that sprang to mind as it has the option of BIN pricing, the same could be said for Sedo, Dan, Epik, Efty lander etc etc etc :xf.smile:
