As a new member of Namepros community I would like to say "Hi" to everyone and head straight to the core of my problem:

I'm looking for trustworthy domain registrar from civilised country located not in the European Union, nor the United States.

Do you know, heard about, using services of any?

Thanks in advance for all your replies.

1. Very aggressive prices (with no coupons I might add)
2. Very functional domain manager (organize/tabs/bulk)
3. Free whois privacy should you need it
4. No upselling/No tricks/No hidden checkboxes

Have fun buying domains

I would have suggested fabulous as well, but the OP is new and likely would be paying retail prices. Fabulous is great but internet.bs would have better prices.

There's also Rebel.com from Canada.

Thanks for the answers. After a long research I made a little list of my potential registrars:
Fabulous.com (Australia)
Internet.bs (The Bahamas)
Namebay.com (Monacco)

Here's the next part of my questions:
1. Have you ever heard about the last one - Namebay.com?
2. What can you say about Rebel.com?
3. Does Tucows have any direct domain registry service? (I found only their reselling system: opensrs.com and yummynames.com)
4. Are the Fabulous and Internet.bs trustworthy enough to transfer main part of my portfolio to one of them?

Fabulous should be trust worthy. I've heard only positive reviews about them. I even have one domain registered with them. I am paying the retail price though.

I've heard the name before, but not much beyond that.

2. What can you say about Rebel.com?
I haven't used them to register any domains yet, but I contacted their support with a question once, and they were quick to respond and helpful.

3. Does Tucows have any direct domain registry service? (I found only their reselling system: opensrs.com and yummynames.com)
They also have Hover.com. I transferred one of my domains to Hover not too long ago, and I really like them so far.

4. Are the Fabulous and Internet.bs trustworthy enough to transfer main part of my portfolio to one of them?
I can also vouch for Fabulous.com. Most of my domains are with them, and they have been great. Nice interface, great support, and like snoopinc said, all the reviews I've seen for them have been good.

As for Internet.bs, I recently transferred a couple of domains to them, and everything went smoothly. No complaints so far.

I have been using Namebay since the INFO landrush, that is some 8 years ago, for a number of my domain names, especially names that I want to be safe. I moved a number of domain names since, but still have some 30 with them, including one that I consider to be probably the best in my portfolio.

And I must say I have never had a bad experience. Not the cheapest rates, but reasonable. Interface could be better, but is acceptable. And security seems to be good. Never any major problem with them. And when you call them, there is a real person on the line (at least those very few times when I needed to do it).

However, since you mentioned it should be also outside the EU: they are obviously in Monaco, but I do not know how far a number of EU rules also apply in that small principalty, due to its close links with France. It depends what your concern is, of course.

Regarding Rebel.com: nothing exceptional, but definitely a reliable registrar, support answers questions. I have however only some 10 domain names left with them, because I do not like the fact that they do not send a courtesy email when a domain name is transfered out, as it is done by many registrars. I asked them the question last year, and here is the reply I received from support (as you see a personal reply, which is a positive sign):

Rebel.com does not send out courtesy emails when domains are transferred for various reasons. The fist and foremost is because it is not required by ICANN. In order to transfer a domain from REBEL to another registrar there are steps that would have to be completed by someone, typically the account holder and domain owner, these steps include requesting the authorization code and most often it requires that the domain has registrar lock removed.

They are right, of course, still I feel that a courtesy email would provide an additional layer of security, and there are never enough such layers when it comes to domain names.

With Namebay, you get a security message each time a change is made to a domain name (e.g. changing DNS, etc.)
