.mobi Registrar .mobi fees

I thought it would be interesting to hear about the different prices that Registrars charge for domain registrations, in particular .mobi

Yesterday I did some surfing and came across one that charges just over $100 Australian a year for a .mobi registration (Sorry I'm not going to mention any names here!)

I cannot understand why these prices need to be so high? Could their services be any better than say GoDaddy?

Has anyone else come across registrars that charge these high amounts for .mobi registrations?

Dishonourable mentions:

NameCheap is a great registrar across the board, but suprisingly, they aren't as cheap as you might think! .mobi's are $22.48/yr.

Or $24.95/yr at Hostway.

They're still not as outrageous as your $100+ registrar though.

Snap charges some retarded price for names (can't remember if 10k or 100k for available names), but that's because they aren't interested in having names hosted with them. Perhaps this firm is the same? Can't comment as I don't know the company.

There are suckers out there everywhere... And where there are suckers, there are scammers -- ready to pounce on them. Doesn't take many regs at 100/pop to be doing quite well for yourself... That's one hell of a profit margin!

Since I became member here early 2006 I have learned many things about domains, domaining, their fees, etc. (Thanks to you guys)
Since, I have transferred many names to Godaddy for a much better price! I guess people need to be aware where they buy their names from!

You bet! When I hear of people paying $30+ for a registration, I just have to shake my head -- especially when they bought several at such exhorbitant prices.
