There's a domain I've had my eye on, that's registered with Netsol - but recently since it passed it's expiry date, the owner has now magically become:

Pending Renewal or Deletion
P.O. Box 430
Herndon, VA. US 20172-0447
[email protected]

I wanted to contact the REAL owner to see if he/she would sell it, but now it seems Network Solutions has claimed ownership of the domain for the grace period until it officially drops... kind of annoying because I'm guessing contacting them would be pointless. Is this common practice with the big registrars, do they do that on-purpose so no-one can make contact?

Thanks,
A.

Not all registrars do that. Netsol does, Enom too I believe.

If you want the domain, the answer is simple. Go to SnapNames and backorder it, and be prepared to bid high when it goes up for auction.

Network Solutions has a partnership with them where names that expire and go past grace period are taken into Network Solutions' own ownership and auctioner off at SnapNames.

Dotster does that too..

There is ONE way to find email used to registerthe domain (DIRECT FROM NETSOL) even though it shows:
Pending Renewal or Deletion
P.O. Box 430
Herndon, VA. US 20172-0447

Send me the domain, and I will retrieve it for you. :)

If they were registered AT netsol itself, yes. I just tested a few upcoming LLLL.com's to drop. A few did not return an email as they were registered through a "reseller".

Cheers AzN- yeah I think I know the method you're talking about to get the email... you follow a certain procedure so far, until it shows the email address- which I was successful in retrieving, but unfortunately after I contacted him, he renewed it! Doh-- rookie mistake there, :(

Thanks for the replies. :)
