Hello everybody,

New member here, I just found this website last night. I was wondering legal problems that could occur by registering names of pro athletes if you park it or just let it sit there? Or what if it is made as a fan site?

ps. by using either dot com Or dot tv

thanks a lot

Hi, keep in mind im not a lawyer or anybody with a special insight within this topic, but I have read some/a lot of similar questions in here.

And almost all, if not all of the responses was that it will/could be a legal problem. Defineatly a problem if you have ads and earn from the website, and even if its a nonprofit fansite it depends on the athlete.

Hopefully you will get another reply with one who knows more about this.

Good luck and best regards,

It depends on a few key points:

Who the athlete is
If you make money or not

If it is free, then no, you should be alright. You'd be better off with something like JohnSmithFans.com though, just to be safe

Thats what i figured, thanks for the responses.

It would be a dot tv name , he doesn't live in the US. So I don't know if that would change anything legally or not.
