Domain is a .com

It's previous owner called me and threatened me, said I was a thief and con artist on american businesses. Said he had paid to buy it through yellow pages and they had no right to make it public again.

I explained how domains work and are processed upon not renewing.

Am I the only one this happens to?

We all get such emails occasionally from disgruntled former owners threatening all kinds of retaliation. I've never had anyone take it any further because possession is still 9/10'ths of the law, and they know that. Tell him to take it up with whoever he paid his money to.

How did you get the domain anyway?

I had it on my to-catch list.

Dropcatch from Pending Delete.

I figure if your sites been down for ~90 days you would do something about it.

Has registered it since 2007

You registered it since 2007, and that person found out only now?

Anyway, you're in good company. It's one of those so-called occupational hazards.

I'd be really concerned if that person made threats and made good on them.

I'm not sure what he meant by this, though.
