Hi All,

I have made some small little sales here and there. But in the past few days I am in advanced negotiations one some of my domains.

It is a high xxx amount.

I was wondering on the best way to receive payments in India.

Sorry I am extremely naive here!

Tried looking around on Namepros, but couldn't find a resource. If there is a link you could post, I would appreciate.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers!

Check or wire transfer. Paypal also but you wont be able to withdraw money in your indian bank account from your indian paypal account. (In simple case if you want to reuse money on internet then it is better to receive money thru paypal)

Always use wire. I'm from India, accepting only wire payments for amounts exceeding 2.5K. Paypal imposes monthly withdrawal limit of $2.5K for Indian accounts.

I've already received several wire transfers in the range of low to mid xx,xxx for my domains.

Hi Del.icio.us!
Thanks for the learnings. I have some doubts -

Would it be possible for you to share which bank accounts you use?

How does Escrow come into effect?

What kinda charges do I need to incur?

Do you receive money in your personal name?

Any Tax liabilities?

Does the government understand what kinda trade this is? (perhaps same as selling air for a high price???)

Looking forward to your response.

Sorry for the botheration!

You can receive the wire transfer in your personal name. You treat it as regular business income and pay taxes as usual.

Not to sound like a broken record, but as you get into higher amounts of money, wire transfers are the best way to do this.

As the other poster suggested, consider Xoom - I have used them numerous times with no problems to pay people in other parts of the world where other payment methods are not ideal.

PayPal, etc may not be good because getting money out can be difficult; risky too because the sender can reverse payment later. Xoom is better - payment is final once funds are picked up / deposited.

Xoom - how do they remit the payment? Frankly, I was very confused

Wire Transfer - is there a guide you can point a link to?

How does Escrow come into effect?

After you guys tell me, I am not looking into PayPal at all

Thanks a lot!

Xoom deposits the money directly into bank account ... or you get it as cash - see Xoom.com for more information about the banks they work with and the payout methods available in your area.

Western Union is more well known and thus may be easier, if they have locations near you.

Because you are seller, you likely don't need to use escrow unless you transfer the domain before getting payment.

Now tell me - what do buyers prefer?

Paying via wire transfer, paypal, western union, xoom? or something else.

I know I am not worried about escrow, but he buyer would be. So how would it work?
