Now, first off, it is too low to even consider selling. My question is, should I even consider negotiating?

Haircut.tv
First offer received at Sedo for $250, I countered with $4,500, three days later they countered with $450.

I hate the lowballing routine, just trying to wear you down into selling for less than what you really want to sell it for.

Given that the monthly OVT for "Hair Cut" always seems to be in the 200K-300K range each month ( This month it is 209,235 searches ) , I was thinking that the $4,500 counter I made was kind of low.

What is your impression of this keyword? What do you think is a legitimate price for a domain such as this? 1K? 2K? 20K?

I could see it as maybe a training thing. Aside from that, I really don't think I could sit through videos of people getting their hair cut.

Maybe it's just me.

Undeveloped I would say you should get about 2000-2500. Since they are lowballing, send it to auction with a reserve. You will find out pretty quickly what it is worth.

$2k is a reasonable counter offer and it is the value I would appraise here (I could be wrong). Just send them a final counter offer you would like to let this name go.

BUT make sure this offer is not from David Beckham :)

Good luck.

Auctions have not faired when for the .TV extension in the last 6 months. Rarely do I see bids go much higher than the original bid on .TV. If you plan to put into auction be comfortable with what you have accepted as your reserve to ignite the auction. Haircut is a good name. It can be used to list salons with clips of services and establishments, contests, a front for a major brand like Hair Cuttery, etc. Good luck with the domain Rogue.

Thanks for the input so far. I guess my feeling is that it will either end up as a training site, where hair stylists can go to see 'new dews' and demonstrations, or perhaps one of the upscale hair product manufacturers would pick it up for marketing new products.

The auction routine might be the way to go, if I get the reserve to the proper level. I think skg is right though, about auction activity. Perhaps later in the year........

Any other suggestions?

Ok gonna shoot me now

If it was hair.tv imo.........prime.tv Saying that.. it is highly brandable and in the right hands.. awsome.

Yes I agree that unlike the .info ext, .tv does not have to fit television. Lots of companies are using .tv in the uk and beyond for all sorts of ads.. so if the right ender buyer is found.. priceless but then again that goes for any name ;)

Good luck :)

hmmmm even for that not sure there is or will be a real huge market for that to command those prices- my sister is a hairstylist, i ran the idea passed her and she said haircutting, as well as like fake nails, is something best learned hands on- so altho it is a nice keyword, that may not get what you are hoping for- you never know i guess, you may very well get that buyer who will pay whatever to obtain a name they want-

I do not normally post about receiving specific bids for domains, it was just that this domain has me a little puzzled, and I am having a hard time reading what the true value is worth. Thank you for your input.

1. People wanting to get their hair cut might like to see a short video of a finished style....
2. Some stylists might join a community that is exclusively made up of members of that niche...
3. Manufacturers might be interested in using the domain as a marketing channel...
4. All three at once.......

Or, none of the above, and it sucks, lol.

heehee no it doesnt suck at all! but i do think it is more of a niche domain- just my own opinion tho- like someone said, hair.tv would appeal to the masses, you just have more of a niche-
saying that, if you are looking for more you should contact those haircutting places and let them know of your gem :)

Will give you my honest opinion. If it was still available I personally would not even reg it as the fit with .tv is not very obvious, but that's just me.

In your case as the buyer was not set off with your $4,500 counter, I would counter with something like $1,750 and hope to settle around $1,000.

It's a great sale if you can sell it for $1,000, you can invest this in better names. All in my opinion of course :)

Good luck!!

I reduced my initial offer slightly and countered, but at this rate it will take weeks to reach a mid point, lol.

If by chance the bidder is reading this, hey, PM me and we will hack out the difference in an hour instead of a month......

Only thing I would add is hold out for a greater amount if:
1) Having or not having the proceeds will not affect your .tv strategy going forward; and
2) The reg fee is not a premium reg fee.

You should know that Hair.tv is a developed site. A very nice one too. This means that the next best option is your name. This being said your name is pretty much top dog. You should sell it accordingly. Hair.tv cant be bought so you are next on the list! I would try to get over $1000 as your name is currently the best available option. My opinion is that $450 is good but the lack of availability of good names do make this one more valuable than that.

Wow, Hair.tv shows EXACTLY what can be done with my domain, very well done. Thanks for the link.

I bet Hair.tv has a fair premium attached to it. Haircut.tv is only a standard reg.....

Thank you all for excellent observations, I do appreciate it.

I hate the back and forth negotiations on Sedo. If they don't budge after round 2, I just send them a "This is my final offer" notice. Saves us both the hassle. If they are players, then they'll buy... if not, just saved some precious moments in my life. They usually bite I'd say 40% of the time or come very close to my asking.

Ah well, bidder backed out after $450, which was way below what I want for my one word .TV domains anyways. With a few exceptions, I am going to want x,xxx for my domains ( or more), since all are relevant and none of them carry the hefty premium reg fee.

Ah well! I'll just have to make this weeks income elsewhere!
