Shouldn't try to hit the lottery for every domain name you have. If "Clay Tan" is a name, I doubt they will pay much more than a few hundreds for it. It's most likely the name of a company already in existence and if you are in the business of hijacking every company out there, trying to get a lottery return on your names, you're in the wrong business.

I doubt "Clay Tan" is more popular than a recently sold name on Godaddy.

Larry,

Clay Tan name is just an angle, TM's are not definitive to one term, many products have similar marks.

You had that decent offer for your kids nick name, and you didn't want to take it, come on how is that for irony, you going to make a webpage for your kid's nick name? You didn't at that time take the cash, and run, you think your kid cares about a nick name domain, or the $?

You can't play it both ways.

The easiest thing is to come back with 3k and see what they say. That won't close any doors and will keep the conversation alive. If you say 10k you might lose it and then ask yourself if anyone else will pay you 2-3k.

If there are more potential clients then hold, if they are the only one to date and its not marketable to someone else then let it go.

If you get wet everything you get a $2K offer, good on you.

You have to choose your battles, and this is one where the buyer has an advantage. They can press for a higher number, if they lose $2K so be it, heck maybe I will offer him $2.1K if he loses the deal.

You have to have sold domains to know what you are missing, you are just treading water if you are going to sell names like this for $2K, and carry your subpar names into endless renewals.

It takes years to figure this out, you have been here a few months, buckle down, you might learn a few things.
Lol.
How many years you been member here doesn`t give you the upper hand or make you a domain pro.
Trust me.
Why don`t you bid on his auction so it would be a win win for both you and the seller.

Big difference though. I have use for the name and I like it. The seller will not find many buyers for this name and I doubt he has much use for it.

I think it does, I have seen, and done alot more deals than you to speak from experience.

We have a difference of opinions, and that is ok. Maybe I will buy it, but I would rather he ask, and get the most he can.

that is true
but still your tactic is wrong

its not about your use
it's about the buyers use

Hey this is totally different in this case. Can keep it for their kid. That`s emotion man.
It costs more than money!

I guess we will see what happens. I will gladly agree with you if he gets a big payday. Unfortunately those are rare and sometimes the money in hand is the best money.

I am very interested to see how it turns out.

Seems like a good price But you do not need us to tell you what to do if you need the money take it and run fast, Look we all wish we could sell domains for 100 K a piece every time but give me a break 100 K for Claytan.com? You might as well counter with 1 Million if you feel so strongly . Setting Fantasy prices is not a sound strategic business Model. But hey what do I know I have seen head scratcher sales in my time.

If the $2000 is an initial offer, I would definitely counter it. The risk of losing the sale is not high. But I wouldn't try to hit a lottery ticket with the counter. Something in the 4 to 5k range is a good counter. Keeps them interested still.

But if you've already negotiated..back and forth..etc.. It's a good selling number.

In some situations setting a crazy price, can compel the buyer to counter with their max out of a last ditch effort.

This sedo blind offer game is impossible to predict, you just never know, if they signed up April 2017, and are from China, then good chance the end user is finally getting a e strategy in place.

If any of you are in the aftermarkets, names like this sell for $800-1500 pretty much everyday between domainers bidding against each other. $2K from an end user is nothing great.

When you have over 200,000 domains, you can set fantasy prices.

sorry
thats nonsense

if you have 279K domains
you need to cash in
$180K every month

When you have a few domains, and one is aged almost 20 years, and you think the right end user makes an offer, you shouldn't throw that chance out the window for $2K.

You shouldn't hold every end user hostage..Just my opinion..

Take the offer and close that deal and use the capital for better names. Then rinse, repeat and recycle. Good job so far!
