Don't get greedy..sell it and move on.. greed will lead to no sale..cuz that is a good price...

It is not complex in this scenario.
There is a company called Claytan Group manufacturing ceramics.( ceramics are made of clays)
They originate in China, Seller is also from China.
Domain is perfectly same with Claytan Group and it has clay word in the domain which makes it a bigger trademark issue.

thats why you should educate yourself
its not so simple

@atinc
The point is just because there is a company with the same name does not mean violating of tm automatically. Any user here can google for any auction here or somewhere else and post that "hey, just heads up, there might be tm issue". This adds NOTHING to any discussion.

Besides, it seems like the author already pushed it to the auction on sedo. Good luck!

the difference between being informed
and to be scrared

can easily be $100 K USD

so why move on fast?

Clay Tan could be a name also, Clay is short for Clayton, and Tan is a surname

Tan, the pinyin romanization of ่ญš, is the 67th most common surname in China.

If you guys are giving names like this away for $2K, you are in the wrong business!

it's far to cheap

cla/ytan/group.com/

the problem is parking the domain
get it off there fast

add 2 zeros to that price
and negotiate from there

I don't think he should go that far. They offered 2K you want him to go to 200K?
Did you check the site, although the company seems to be old, their website is ranked 5.4Million with Alexa, and the design is old and they have been online since 2001, that tells you they're not doing so great online, and may not be willing to go that high (imagine how many plates they have to sell to recoup that investment) no way they'll go for anything near that. maybe he can counter with 10K and then meet in the middle. My2cents

Unless you ask, you will never get, I can spend $2K on namejet in about 7 minutes or less, it's gone, you don't get many chances like this, you have to make the most of it.

He still has to pay commission on it also. What is he going to get $1,600? If you watch the aftermarkets that will buy you 4-5 5L brandable .com's these days.

Shouldn't try to hit the lottery for every domain name you have. If "Clay Tan" is a name, I doubt they will pay much more than a few hundreds for it. It's most likely the name of a company already in existence and if you are in the business of hijacking every company out there, trying to get a lottery return on your names, you're in the wrong business.

I doubt "Clay Tan" is more popular than a recently sold name on Godaddy.

If you get wet everything you get a $2K offer, good on you.

You have to choose your battles, and this is one where the buyer has an advantage. They can press for a higher number, if they lose $2K so be it, heck maybe I will offer him $2.1K if he loses the deal.

You have to have sold domains to know what you are missing, you are just treading water if you are going to sell names like this for $2K, and carry your subpar names into endless renewals.

It takes years to figure this out, you have been here a few months, buckle down, you might learn a few things.
