.tv Realistic strategy for Me.TV vs a la carte development

I'm asking for Herculean restraint here guys, just for a microsecond consider you had some Me.TV sites. This is strictly hypothetical, but if you were trying to develop on Me.TV, what would be your strategy? Go ahead and tell me you wouldn't, that's why I don't.... etc.. but then try to answer the question, please

What do you think will work as far as content? What could you expect in revenue from say 1000 clicks a day? How much is it possible to make with a good "channel" on this platform?

How does this compare with custom developing your own site and monitizing with adsense? How much can a good site with 1000 clicks a day get from adsense?

I know we have a parked site "hotube.tv" that gets about ~$10/month parked on namedrive, and hentaivideos.tv that get about a third that.

I know there are a lot of variable here, but post some numbers so we can have an idea what might be worthwhile as a direction in development planning.

Well, hypothetically how about any of the ones in my sig?

Let's assume we are talking about NON-premium channels. Obviously the best generics premiums are probably mostly taken and more "capital" could be justified in custom development vs. (no proven rev) Me.TV.

So, if you like, part of the question is what type of naming strategy could succeed?

Category headings were a fortunate grab for us since the guide was released along these lines. I see other smart moves, like Amazed.tv focusing on a certain type of high quality content and abstracts also with the music "niche". But what other opportunities are ripe for development?

If I have some good channels and as many or more dns than I can develop, does it hurt me or help me if others grab good names and develop good sites?

It takes roughly 50-100 hrs I would say to "build" a decent ME.TV channel. What kind of adsense rev could you get from 1000/click rate?

For comparison, we would expect to see at least $10/month from one of these sites with 200clicks worth at least $1. And we'd like to do better than parked at namedrive, that doesn't help the extension.

Does developing steady traffic via Me.TV development increase the value of non-premiums? What about for Premiums?

I don't know about what others see, but we see about a .5% CTR on Google Adsense. Rarely do we see clicks that pay over $1. Many pay 8-50 cents.

Traffic increases value on any domain name, premium or not, no matter what you dev'd it on.

Where I said 200clicks worth at least a dollar, I meant a dollar total for the 200 clicks.

Probook.....only you can answer that.

I would see it this way: Let's say that I earn 150,000 per year. Now break that down by roughly 2000 hours per year. That works out to $75 per hour.

so how many hours have you put into it? Is that time earning you your per hour wage? Is it making your site worth the total amount of hours/wages you have put into it?

This is mostly a hobby i guess.

Probook- If you are getting 800 hits a day, you need to find ways to channel that traffic towards sites that reimburse you, or at least add some affiliate links in your 'link to' box of sites.

If you are getting 800 hits a day this is what I would do:

GET OFF OF ME.TV!!!!!

Go get some web space and use a CMS to set up something that looks as close as possible to what you have. Duplicating thier site look and feel shouldn't be overly difficult. Make sure you also include at the very least ADsense boxes, or banners.

When you have it up and running, switch DNS to your new nameservers and when the traffic starts transferring over, you can start watching your revenue increase.

If you leave it on ME.tv tools, and you are hoping thier revenue sharing will give you even 10% of the revenue coming to Demand, you are fooling yourself.

Quite frankly, I would guess it will be more like 5% with the explanation that the rest goes to cover costs of your "free" site.

Again: if you are getting those kind of hits, staying there and earning nothing is really silly right now considering you know you can get adsense revenue (or something else) right away, and that so far we have ZERO clue what we will get out of Demand.

Showbiz is right, unless you are getting the hits because of your inclusion on the me.tv network.

All of my hits are because of my inclusion in the me.tv network... but the easiest way to get to it is to type it in... so repeat business is likely doing that.
