It has been a year since the top level .realestate domain extension rolled out to the public on November 26, 2018. From it's launched date by the National Association of Realtors in partnership with Second Generation, Ltd, domain investors and professionals in the real estate industry were very enthusiastic about this new domain extension which promised to be the perfect one to " match clients with their dream properties - by giving customers a taste of your brand before they even visit your website."

According to Domainnamesta.com, there are around 19,303 registered .realestate domain names. https://domainnamestat.com/statistics/tld/realestate-TLD_ID-804
Upcoming deletes 35 (0.18%) Total count of domains with status Pending Delete or Redemption Period.

however, as usually happens with any new domain extension, there is an inevitable junk drop during its first anniversary of general availability.

I personally registered around 6 .realestate domains and already dropped 4 of them due to its high renewal fees $77 each at Godaddy - reducing my .realestate portfolio to only 2 domains left which are:

realestates.realestate (Any thoughts about my 2 domains are welcome)
    real-estate.realestate

I have some important questions to the NamePros community:

A - Do you guys think there is a solid aftermarket for .realestate domain names?

B- Are there any/some .realestate domain public sales registered somewhere?

C- Have you received any offer for your .realestate domain?

Your constructive comments about this topic will be greatly appreciated!

    Many blessings!!!
    Luis Meran.

well, to be honest, your 2 keywords are not exactly what I would personally consider investment grade. Which serious end user would build a large business on them? Imo it is not going to happen for those 2 names.

What you need in this (and similar extensions, like .property, .properties, .homes, .condos, etc) is either very strong keyword which goes well with the extension, or large GEOs.

So think of keywords like Premium, Dream, Holiday, Luxury, My, or GEOs like London, Tokyo, etc...and you need to get them for reasonable renewal, if they should serve you as a domain investment.

It is better you have 1 - 2 really strong new gTLD domain name with acceptable renewals (if you can get them), comparing to large amount of domain names which are not strong, and on which you will just pay a renewal fees each year. Just imo.

    GL :)

@Brands.International thank you so much for your honest comments and recommendations. It's greatly appreciated you took the time to share some lights about this domain extension... Especially your opinion about my 2 domains.

You are absolute right about my 2 purchases and sometimes it's something a domain newbie ( in my case) don't know or usually takes into consideration at the time of registering a new domain. Im definitely going to get rid off them. By canceling them I will be saving $154 now and maybe more in the future in renewal fees!!!
    Thank you again 👍

Picorio, you are welcome. I love new gTLDs, but in this particular case you can really get better names with better investment potential for your $$$ comparing to those 2, imo. GL :)

That site is not reliable when it comes to domain name statistics. It has .COM at 157,340,489. The real count, from Verisign's own page, is 145,228,283.
    https://www.verisign.com/en_US/channel-resources/domain-registry-products/zone-file/index.xhtml

Namestat.org, NTLDstats.com or Domainnamestats.com are accurate sources for daily domain name counts.

No. The majority of domain names are on one registrar. 87% are on Name Share Inc. That is a specialty registrar and there's little activity outside of that in the gTLD.

Another thing that I've seen in web usage surveys in .COM is that realtors are registering the address of the properties that they are selling as a domain name and redirecting it to a webpage or their own website. It is an unusual trend but a very clever use of exact match domain names (EMD). The .REALTOR is a managed/restricted gTLD so there's no aftermarket there as each registrant has to be an accredited realtor. One way that .REALESTATE could take off is if realtors use the same EMD approach that I've seen with .COM but it is unlikely because .COM is the main TLD for the USA. Outside the US, most realtors tend to use the local ccTLD for their websites.
