Question About Surge in Visitors

Hey Pros,

I have two domain names parked at Bodis that have registered amazing (to me, at least) Visitor numbers in the past four days.

Specifically, E-Same.com and ESam-e.com both tout SAM-e, which is used widely in Europe and other countries as both an anti-depressant and dietary supplement. SAM-e is also enjoying increased sales in the U.S.

I've owned both sites for several years, and I've made a VERY small profit on them. In the past four days, though, both sites have been visited over 100 times each (pretty much evenly divided over the four days), but there have been absolutely no clicks.

I'm wondering why the sudden increase in visitors on both sites with no clicks. Does anyone have any possible rationale for this phenomenon. I'm sure there's an obvious reason for the sudden rise in visitorship, but it's not apparent to me.

Thanks!

hmm.. this is my guess..

A few days ago Google crawled both sites on the 19th and 20th (according to the cache data). The links on the parked pages are names of other sites... if i google one of those links, for example, "www.ExtremeSupplements.net" your site (esam-e.com) is the 3rd site on the search results.

Therefore the extra traffic could be from google. The reason you're getting no clicks is because the links aren't relevant.

Ah-so, Nu-money! Though I'm pretty much domain-illiterate, I'm sure you've hit on the reason. Obviously, I need to get up to speed on Google and its inextricable connection to domaining.

Hey, I teach writing in college, and I know semicolons and conjunctive adverbs and the like inside-out, but I just don't get the intricacies of domaining though I do my best. I wish there was a book that explained the type of invaluable "stuff" you just imparted. Hey, maybe you should write it, and I can edit it.;)

Seriously, do you know of any books in the library or available via Amazon that touch on the basics of domaining? If there are none, there definitely should be!

Thanks for your wise input!

In a fast moving subject like domains, or anything to do with computers for that matter, books would be out of date (and limited in scope,) before they were published.

The best place to learn about the latest developments in the domain world is here, NamePros. Things are changing all the time and you can follow the changes, as they happen right here on this forum.

I've learnt loads since I've been using it and I've enjoyed every minute :).

There's a newbie forum here, isn't there?

There's a number of blogs and publications out there, but you'll seriously learn more here than anywhere else; just sit back a read for a few weeks.

Meanwhile, here's a thread I started a while ago about mistakes I've made since I started. Probably should update it - I've made a few more.
