Question about Parking Income

Hello,

I am brand new to doing this, and am just starting.

I bought about 40 domains on 1and1.com. Some are relatively good ideas based on nascent technology that could become mainstream tech in the future. All are .com names. I fully realize that most will not bring any parking money, but one has to start somewhere. I intend to learn from these, and treat the $240 expense as educational seed capital.

I am considering parking them on Sedo. My questions are :

1) How much did you make, per month, in the first 3 months, per domain?
2) How long does it take for Sedo to Optimize your site? How much can you do yourself?
3) Is anyone making more than $5/domain/day, across a large number of domains?
4) Is parking them on Sedo without developing them enough to breakeven on decent names, in general?

Thanks

Well basically unless it's a typo domain, type-in, or a domain that use to have a big site, you aren't going to make a lot. I recently just put some domains up that I got and I haven't made one cent in a week.

Here's exact answers:
1)$0
2)About 1-2 days, you pick a good keyword.
3)Not me.
4)To be honest, I don't think so.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me at anytime.

Hi,

To answer your questions:
1) $1-$2 on average, some more some less (but I keep them because their development potential)
2) Last time I tried it took one week. I don’t suggest you to do it, it’s better to try different keywords and keep the ones that increase your revenue (take your time to try them, it’s worth it).
3) Some of my domains do. The average is way bellow.
4) Almost all my domains pay their fees with the parking revenue.

I hope this help. Btw welcome to the forum!

Regards,

NR.

Thanks. THis seems to be a nice, polite forum.

If you don't suggest optimization, is trying different keywords something we do manually through Sedo, or is that done through our own independent development while it is not parked at Sedo? (Not having done this before, this may be a stupid question).

If you park your names at sedo, you can go into their domain management screen and manually submit the keywords for your domain. You can even see a sample screen of which ads sedo projects for your parked page.

Thanks. That seems encouragingly straightforward. I bought domains with keywords in mind, in the first place.

Does getting appropriately good keywords in there help in getting this to show up on search engines? What are the other ways (if any) that simply adding the best keywords increases visits to an undeveloped site?

1) Depends on the domain and the keyword. If you pick a good keyword on a site that gets traffic, you will be close to your peak your first month.
2) Sedo didn't do anything for me. They made most of them a portal. They let you change your keyword which usually takes less than a few hours.
3) Best I am doing is $1/domain/day for several domains
4) Definitely. The average domain that was registered and not bought from someone only needs to bring in about 2 cents a day break even. Sedo gives you a minimum of 3 cents, so as long as you get two clicks every three days, you're golden.

You won't increase your traffic by parking them. Search engines won't find them, unless the domain had a site at one time and was indexed. You cannot submit your site to any search engines or promote the site in any way. It's against the TOS for Sedo. You have to get typo traffic, type-in traffic, or traffic from sites that linked to your site back when it was a site. If you have generic domain that don't recieve a lot of traffic to start, parking may not be the best option.

I have a similar thread running maybe they could be merged.

Check my other thread. Thats why I am interested in what keywords bring the best result.

A domain with just a few uniques a month can break even on just a few clicks a year at 1.00 Euro plus.

As an example, I received 0.95 euros twice this week on my domain, 'HomeSecurityAdvice.com' - Parking Keyword 'Home Security'. Three more clicks like that in a year and it breaks even despite low traffic.

I have a similar thread running maybe they could be merged.

I've never heard that you can't submit your domains to search engines and park them at sedo. Can you provide the text from sedo's TOS that states this?

one often overlooked part of domain parking is getting recruit members. It takes time but you will make money from other people finding the domain parking services through you. The money you get is completely insignificant in the beginning but it all adds up. I have listed the top parking services in my opinion on my domain parking research site. I will continue to learn and try to tame this beast.

The top two things I have found is that you need to do a lot of different things. AND SIMULTANEOUSLY. You should list your domains everywhere!!!! and then park them at the best suited services. you can see my recommendations and opinions at
