.tv Question about after the Dot TV purchase

Hello. Im new to this forum and new to dot TV for the most part.. :hi:

Recently bought a couple dot TV names. 1 is a one word name which can be applied to any industry out there really. Its a generic non tradmarked name (and the dot com with the same name is owned by a large company as well), the other name is a two word name that "says it all" so to speak..

My question isnt about the actual name and their appraisal value, but what could be the next step in terms of getting them up and running the cheapest possible way. I bought them from go daddy so there isnt any instant tools that come with the Demand Media Pruchases (at least none that I am aware of?).

I'd like to have videos on them obviously, but wasnt sure if I need to have some super expensive (server?-sorry not the most IT literate either!) to accomodate all the content that I would (or other people) would be providing. Any knowledge and input and costs -thoughts on what to do next would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hello Jim,
welcome!

IMO unless you have a valid business it will be hard to get interested viwers to a newly developed site that is inexpensive. Obviously the me.tv tools would be nice and effective. Youtube scripts cost a few hundred and hosting could be about $15/month for a cheap decent viseo server. Maybe $4 amonth for normal hosting. But its hard to get noticed in the crowd and may require along time to catch on or alot of money to advertise and gain interest. But if you have a clone site all the advertising in the world wont help you get a consistent returning visitors. If you just need a few videos here and there without interactivity, it is very easy to use a wysiwyg editor to make your website and upload your videos to youtube then embed your code. Its all drag and drop. IMO its best to move over to enom if you are not good at developing, you will find yourself learning several different skill sets that may take a year or more to be proficient in.

Best of luck.

Your got some options to accomplish your tasks:

Godaddy don't offer what Enom Technology Reseller provides e.g. Social Networking tools. Though you can transfer them out to any enom ETP to use it.

Another options, is to search this board with "youtube script or myspace script" and you will get some scripts related to youtube and myspace . I'm sure some members had used them.

My personal approach is to use free but dependable service. I'm settle with .TV Social Networking Tools at the moment and they still continue to improve their service.. continue reading the .TV section here.

I like the viral marketing of social networking tools within the .TV

Hope this help you start somewhere.

Regards,
em

transfer

so if I understand it right there is possibility to tranfer all my Tv names from different registrars to enom?

I have been looking on the sites and cant find any buttons named "transfer" in my domain name section.

I have never transfer any name from registrar to registrar just for myself, only to buyers.
But It is probably the same process.

thanks for help

I have found it finaly,it is on the enom site - initiate the transfer.

hi jim,

i don't think that functionality is available. i do think there is an ad sharing opportunity around the corner though.

This was discuss during 1st Enom Reseller Summit, the sharing revenue and possible google ads is on their plan.

Ok, next question..

Great thanks. Being that i only own 2 dot TV's , i plan on focusing and developing them both in the coming months. ideally i'd like to make some sort of ad space revenue with these sites (in addition to other revenue generating features through the sites)..so my next questions are..do i use the Demand Media /template tools and wait and see how their ad share program works? or do i use some friends of mine that are " site building savvy" to help build the sites and offer up ad space on them? IF i do the latter, what amount of uniques visitors/ page views would the sites have to get to even get a look from an advertiser on to be on my sites? input, thoughts, recommendations on that are appreciated :)

I guess this is the decision you need to make. You are the only person who can guess your business direction and project your revenue including ads spending and sales.
