Problem with WinXP

Hello,

I'm having a problem with WinXP, always I can't open any .ini files and some other types of files, and I get the following error on startups: e.g. the following file is corrupted, unreadable, etc. It exists and it has size but I receive an error when I open it. It asks me to run Check disk utility, I did..but nothing was solved..the check was returning too many lines corrupted and unreadable. What gone bad? I don't wish to uninstall anything..however can I fix this issue?

Right click on it, select Open With and choose WordPad or NotePad.

Thanks, I just did that..but It said " The file or directory \WINDOWS\Prefetch\NOTEPAD.EXE-336351A9.pf is corrupt and unreadable. Please run Chkdsk utility ".

I can't download any files as well....

I ran this chkdsk utility, and It seems to be ok now.. hope I get no more errors like this

Switch to linux ^^

you could try doing a system repair if yo have the win xp disc

try at command dos : chkdsk [driveletter]:
Or
use Scandisk to fix the problem
