Problem with Nortons.

I seem to be having a problem with nortons antivirus. When I turn my computer on, before my desktop even loads, nortons is making my computer connect to the net. I know that it is doing this because it's searching for updates, but it didn't start doing this until I installed windows updates.
I wouldn't be asking this but I have tried everything but does anyone know what I am doing wrong or have any suggestions on what I can do other than uninstall nortons and not put it back on my computer to make it stop connecting to the inet before my desktop loads?

Check your Norton Preferances. It's possible it could be set to check for new updates everytime Windows loads.

Also, what version are you running?

Norton 2004 Anti-Virus is known to have interferances with Windows and programs running on Windows. Along with this it's suppose to have some other poor side effects upon installation.

I'm not speaking from experiance, but I've read enough poor reviews about it to be sure of the above!

I think it also gives you less trouble if your running it on Windows XP. Hope you get it all fixed. Let us know how you get on.

I would recommend you to switch to Kaspersky. Norton is probably the worst paid antivirus available. IT USES 75% SYSTEME RESOURCES AT START UP, slows down my computer like hell.

I recomend a switch to Pc-cillin, Superb program updates everyday, Doesnt eat up half the resources norton does.

im having norton problems too...whenever i startup my computer i got the error message that my norton i s invalid. i tried to download the latest version but still got the same message. then i got blue screens and i have to reformat my computer...
