Do any of you register domains of pro sports players? What kind of successes do you have with them? The reason I ask is because my uncle-in-law registered a domain of an NHL player (he actually has a few), and then traded it for an autographed jersey and a couple of autographed 8x10s. I think that's incredibly cool.

As I started searching for names of players that I like, almost all of them have already been registered, even guys that fight for a roster spot and end up not starting many games anyway. In fact, I've even searched for a couple of college players I like and their names are registered. One of them is a sophomore! I started doing some whois lookups on some of the guys and many of them were registered before they became pro, but most are just godaddy pages or "under construction" (and unmodified for several years).

Anyway... just wondering.

look up cyber squatting, this is not something I, nor most others, would recommend you, or anyone else, do.

There a huge network of "scouts" for each major usa sport that knows top athletes long before guys like you and i see them even in their freshman year of college. A top basketball recruit can even be identified in grade school, jr high for sure. Alex Rodriguez is not that unique of a name if you think about it.

Don't do it. It's a waste of time.
