Dot Pro valuation

I had been going with Estibot and Google to get an idea which .PRO domains would be worth registering, considering the low amount of data we have about them and the steep reg prices...

Now I noticed that many of the names that I prospected earlier, and which Estibot estimated slightly under or over $100, are now in the $200-$600 range according to it... Only one that went down I already registered it :lol: Parks.PRO (not worried about it)

Anyhow, is there a better way to know whether a .PRO domain will give any returns? I will most probably add a few domains to my portfolio in light of the new estimates and my guts feeling about the name, but that is a bit unsettling.

Search for some of the threads in this forum started over the last couple of weeks about .pro and EstiBot. PremiumDomains rates some of those domains as premium, Afternic appraises some of them at $12,000/$14,000 (as far as what they'll let them list for in their expanded promotion program, where normally the cap is $10,000). Josh, the EstiBot author has commented about his tweaks to EstiBot and his uncertainty about how to appraise .pro.

Some .pro domains already have sold for $1000 - $25,000 (none of mine yet, but I've only had them a few weeks).

In one of the recent discussions (from this week), Registry.pro answered some questions I had, and I posted them here. I also contacted EnCirca, and my messages was sent to Tom Barrett, who replied to me and asked if I thought it would be a good idea for him to send a call for questions about the .pro domain situation to this forum, and I said yes. And he did, so if you have questions, find that thread and ask them if they're not already covered.

Tom also sent out a call for questions in the EnCirca newsletter, which goes out to all EnCirca registrants.

I don't know what to tell you... pro is a tougher sell, but it isn't dead. There's some risk, and depending on how it goes it could be worth a lot. I'll let you know after a year, and then after two years.

PremiumDomains is a good idea, if it takes the domain as Premium you can list it for free afterwards.
