.pro use restrictions

ICANN doesn't have any restrictions but EnCirca is imposing some of its own:

"Licensee may not, in connection with use of the Domain Name, explicitly or implicitly misrepresent professional credentials, including but not limited to levels of training, certification, education, licensing or membership in a professional organization."

This means you can't pretend to be a lawyer. doctor, etc.

Not a problem for honest folks.

I think they are limited to 3 or 4 countries at the moment, USA, Canada UK spring to mind, also do a cross check on qualications, registrations etc with publicly accessible data bases. Also there's some rule about having a 3rd level domain registered before you can register a 2nd level domain. Will stand correction, update on any or all of this as from memory when I first read the info on .pro quite some time ago. As was suggested above, I'm sure there's a lot more discussion if you search for it here.
