A play on using the extension as part of the keyword. They are shorter than the .com versions, and I think it makes them more Brandable. All you have to do is type in the keyword with a "DOT" in it. It looks good in the browser. It's only the keyword that you see, no "WWW." or ".COM". People are lazy. It's (3) less key-punches that they have to make.

PrescriptionDru.gs (18 key-punches incl. the DOT)
PropertyListin.gs (17 key-punches incl. the DOT)
PrescriptionDrugs.com (21 key-punches incl. the DOT)
PropertyListings.com (20 key-punches incl. the DOT)
I think this will become more popular as time goes by. The extension does not matter at all in this type of domain name, and yes Doma.in is taken. I wish I could have gotten that one.

i disagree, unless it's a natural split, using the extension is a poor choice and I preferably would type in prescriptiondrugs.com than prescriptiondru.gs

So much harder to type

Brindle, while you are correct that those names will become more popular as time goes b, most people are now focused on doing what your doing (which are called domain hacks by the way) with single words like Dru.gs and Listin.gs, and why not since those names could also then allow subhacks like Prescription.Dru.gs and Property.Listin.gs, which are only 1 more keystroke than yours, and only one of dozens of subhack possibilities with those names.

Keep in mind too that with the dot splitting the word, a search for the word will not see the domain. That's always a downside of those names over their .com counterparts... .com is the most preferred extension for a name by far, and a search for "property listings" WILL see PropertyListings.com and NOT PropertyListin.gs.

Nonetheless, you may get lucky and find buyers for those names. After all, someone just bought HDD.eu for $5,000 (probably more than the .net would go for)...anything is possible, lol.

the .com version is always more valuable. Even with del.icio.us, i would still prefer typing delicious.com. As well, most people generally add a .com to whatever keyword(s) and hope a good site comes up because they know that the .com is the most popular extension.

As well, by doing what you have done there are millions of domains that can be made using those ccTLDs, but it doesn't give them any more value.

I agree that the .com is the best. What would prescriptiondrugs.com go for?
I would say a very large sum. The search engines might not pick up on this kind of spelling yet, I think they will in the very near future. If an end user had WWW.PRESCRIPTIONDRU.GS on their product, I think the customer will notice the "catch". I reg'd this domain, do you think that some prescription drug company would give me at least $50 for it? I would if I owned a drug company just to keep it out of the hands my competitors. This domain is not hard to type in. All you have to type into the browser is the keyword with (1) DOT in the name. Easy!
