I was contacted today by someone who is interested in cerler.mobi--it is a ski resort in the Spanish Pyrenees. I'm not really inclined to sell just yet (particularly after seeing mobi really start to pick up momentum in the last few days :kickass: ), but it got me thinking about valuations. My admittedly primitive method involves looking at a few easy-to-determine factors:

1. How many Google hits?

2. Do paid ads show up when you search the term in Google?

3. OVT score (in this case, using the Spanish version of OVT).

4. Is the term one that makes sense for on-the-go users?

5. Is the .com version (and the country code TLD version, if applicable) developed? If so, how "professional" does the site look?

Back during landrush, I thought cerler.mobi met enough of these criteria to be worth regging. Anyone use different factors when deciding whether to register a mobi? Anyone think any of mine don't make sense?

Final question--if you owned cerler.mobi, what would you sell it for?

Thanks to all in advance,

MM

Those are some excellent things to look at. I'd consider also looking at the Wordtracker score, carefully analyzing how much competition the name would have -- i.e. melatonin.mobi is probably a better name than antioxidants.mobi, despite melatonin being an antioxidant, because it has much, much less competition, and would be easier to reach an excellent google ranking, as well as brand.

Aspen.mobi went for $4,000 awhile back. It would likely go for more now, however, Aspen is certainly more well known than Cerler. Not sure what the offer was, but if it was >$500, I'd seriously consider it. You could take that money and invest it in another quality aftermarket name which may have more potential down the road.

Is this the English or Spanish spelling?

Thanks, Reece--I appreciate the advice.

Scandi--from what I can tell (by looking at both the English and Spanish versions of Wikipedia, as well as reading a few of the first page Google results), the resort is spelled "cerler" in both languages. I think the majority of tourists/users would be spanish speakers, but I'm glad my one domain covers both.

That's good news. Considering that then I would be hard pressed to sell it right now. I don't think geos are performing nearly as well right now as they should/could in a few years. Besides, if you ski you can visit there and it is all research (aka tax write offs :))
