hi all,
Last Friday I received an offer for one of my domain names through my email address. we agreed on a price and decided to complete the transaction using escrow. he started the escrow process and funded the account today. After a while I received an email from escrow stating that the buyer has funded the account. I was satisfied and was about to push the domain name to his godaddy account when I noticed something fishy. we had done all our communications though his gmail account and the email address associated with his godaddy account was also the same. the email he has used for the escrow transaction was a different email though. the name is similar but its a yahoo account. I'm afraid that if I push the domain to his godaddy with the gmail account , he could easily claim that I haven't send the domain to the email mentioned in the escrow agreement. Has anyone come across a problem like this. I would like to be safe. Is this a scam???

I contacted the buyer and he told me he has done this many times and isn't giving a valid explanation for the two different email address

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

This does happen quite often and shouldn't (inherently) be a problem. You've negotiated by email. In fact, if there are any issues with the buyer accepting the domain (which is not likely), simply provide Escrow with your earlier emails as proof to match the new owner, and Escrow should be willing to accept the transfer on behalf of the buyer.

Again, I don't think you should be too concerned.

It is better to ask the buyer which godaddy account/email he wants to push the domain to and keep escrow.com copied. If he provides that information then only transfer the name.

Best.
