Porting a Forum to another Forum?

Confusing? Yeah, just a bit.

Ok, here's the situation: My forum, even though in its infancy, is not performing the way i would like it to perform. There are certain things that SMF - Simply Machines Forum seems to be unable to accomplish: Password threads so only the poster and staff can read it and a Welcome/registration screen that disappears upon logging in, reducing the amount of characters needed for a password, etc. Too much to be continuing to use SMF.

My intention: to switch over to vBulletin, seems to work for NP, so i assume it should work for my project as well.

My Problem: The content, categories, etc. and most importantly, the registered users that i have so far, can all this be ported over into vBulletin or will i have to start from scratch, losing all the users and content?

Hey Mike, i'm moving this to Website Development.

Also, vBulletin would be a great solution! Much better than SMF.
As for the "conversion", vBulletin has their own set of "tools", called "ImPex".

ImPex would allow you to convert to vB from SMF, transferring users, posts etc.

(I'm almost certain ImPex supports SMF, though, it's worth checking first.)

EDIT: I did some searching, and found out, vB/ImPex deffinately supports SMF.

hehe that was fast transition to vB :D..yeah i have heard good things about impex its trasfers most of the important thing
