I have a simple question that needs answering,

I am at the SMF Installer page after having just installed the SMF software onto my server, my question is:

In the field 'Forum URL' what do I put? http://www.tbaec.ca or http://www.tbaec.ca/forum or the default that was in there http://www.tbaec.ca/forum/smf_1-1-4_install ??? Please help!

I don't want to make a mistake and have the address to access the main page of my forum be anything but www.tbaec.ca

I want my users to be able to see the forum page with all the recent topics when they type http://www.tbaec.ca into their browsers and then have a separate link on this page to all the different FORUM categories I will be making. i.e. electrical, entertainment, off topic, etc.
Thanks for your time

Hi marc,

The forum URL is the absolute URL to the installation of your forum....

Meaning just go to the index page of the forum and copy the url and put that down in you forum URL..

So if you installed your forum in www.example.com/forum then that is your forum url...

If you installed the smf at www.example.com then thats your forum url...

Hi marc,

I went onto my ftp and created a folder called 'forum' in the ROOT directory of my server. I then uploaded the unzpped packge i dowloaded from smf into the
/forum folder i created in ROOT... after it finished uploading it created its own folder in the /forum folder i first created in ROOT so now on my ROOT directory it has /forum/smf_1-1-4_install/'this is where all the files are'

Is what your saying, if my 'index.php' file is located on my ROOT directory in /forum/smf_1-1-4_install
then when the initial SMF installer page comes up in 'FORUM URL' i need to enter /forum/smf_1-1-4_install ???

Will this still allow me to have a page with all my recent topics come up when my visitors type in just www.tbaec.ca and then have a hyper link to the actual list of forums (i.e. electrica, media, off topic) ???

Thank you very much for your time and patience in helping me resolve this matter.
