We (calven and myself) are looking for a logo for a texas holdem multiplayer poker site - LowRakes.com. Ideas for the logo include: playing cards, red-felt playing table, cash, chips, or anything else fitting of a casino/poker website. As for colors, we are open-minded, but we are keen to "Microsoft" blue, navy blue, and/or dark green.

Competition open for 1-2 weeks, or until we see a logo we like.

Payment via PayPal.

Thanks

guys... be sure to provide the contest holder with the logo in "vector" (.eps) format... I am noticing alot of extracted images that are not vector artwork. the buyer cannot take these logos to a printer when using it for business cards/letterheads/etc. I have recently been asked/paid to recreate some artwork for a few people here lately because they were provided with low resolution work that could not be used on print media so please be sure to treat these buyers with respect and provide them with original pieces!

my thanks as a fellow designer!

(advice to the contest holder and any other contest holders please be sure to ask the designer if their work is in vector format if you are in doubt. a easy way to tell for sure is to ask them to provide you with a very enlarged segment of the logo so you can see the clarity and detail of certain objects ;))

Sylense is correct. We would strongly prefer that logos are vector or high-res so that we can use them for letterheads and in other print publications. If we like one that does not fit this criteria, we may choose to accept it anyway, but vector is strongly preferred.

EMAN,

WOW that looks real nice. The second one especially....you make a case for the #1 spot! Could you possibly make the text underneath the logo a bit more readable? Love the poker chip idea in the second image. Maybe the cards in the middle with poker chips on each side of the 4 aces? Could we try that??? In particular with the cards centered in the middle with the highest of the 3 chipstacks next to the cards on each side? Another picky detail- the edges of the aces cards a bit more defined.

I am very impressed with the work of all...but emil has certainly moved to the top with his latest submission.

All of you guys have done a wonderful job with this. Its very hard to decide which logos we like best. Lots of unique ideas...based on our criteria of capturing our business concept yet reflecting professionalism/creativity I have come up with the following...

I have not discussed this in great detail with justin but to give you guys an idea of where you stand this would be my ranking/ideas for your logos:

1- EMAN (professional, clean, simple, reflects our poker concept, possibly make the text underneath our company name a little more readable. also include poker chips in some fashion on each side of the centered "aces" cards)

- Will (very creative! eye catching, also very nice and meets our concept, "equal and opposite of Emans" in its creative design. )

2 - DN (Another great submission, very creative, not far behind the leaders, love the creativeness!)
3 - flashguy (eye catching but the top cards and curved lines dont seem right to me...still a very nice design.
4 - sylense ( like yours also, maybe better without the large arrow on the left and the dollar bills. poker chips and cards may be better suited for the logo. also a ".com" could be helpful.
5 - krishm - also very clear, professional. maybe a differant text and colors. not quite as "eye catching" as the others.
6 - 170 designs - a bit too plain. maybe make the text a little more eye catching, 3d or shaded. also might need a .com.
7 - squarex - a little to abstract and hard to read. our logo would need to be a bit larger. "Low Rakes . Com" also the poker chip in the middle doesnt seem to fit right proportionally.

8- David - Although this does not really meet our criteria for a logo we might be interested in a poker chip type graphic like you made. We would need a bit more detail to make the chip more lifelike and a better color scheme. Like the concept though. Although you are number 8 in ranking, i think your image fits into the category of an "additional image" which we also might be interested in paying for...

Although Justin and I are already narrowing in on potential winning submission(s) the contest isnt over yet. We are looking at possibly ending it either this sunday night or maybe jan 3-4th at the latest.

Thanks for participating everyone!

Cal

Ok thanks for the feedback! :)

Here is my revision... I think this is alot cleaner and still yet bold and professional. You will see that I also took a clipping of a section and enlarged it so you can see a preview of the clarity of this design which validates that it is in fact vector artwork. Enjoy! ;)

Eman, is that logo vector? It looks like you've used images in it, that's all ...

the chips are images, so technically its not vector. However i have the original 3072x2048 so I don't really think that would be a problem.

Attached is what I was thinking as far as the dollar bill instead of stars modification... just smaller bills falling down in place of the stars. I really like this design.

here is a revised version of my last entry.... thought this was a tad bit better. ;)

lowrakes-logo4.jpg

or... this one I re-implemented the arrow but I made it refer to the "LOW" in lowrakes as it is now pointing down which gives it a much nicer effect and more validated placement. I also crispened/darkened the blue as I felt it might appear a bit dry or too pastel.

lol... I keep going back and cleaning things up. I took out the cards and floated the bills in... felt like the cards overdid it a little too much (money / chips / AND CARDS)

feedback is appreciated. thanks!
