I received this email from [email protected] few minutes ago about domain I won on NameJet.

We are sorry to inform you that the registrar Alfena, or IgniteLA, or Yenkos, can no longer maintain the above domain name. We apologize for the inconvenience, however you must transfer your domain name to another registrar within the next seven (3) days. As you have been using the enom.com registrar panel to access these domains up until this point we suggest a transfer to enom.com will the smallest hassle. Failure to transfer your domains within this period of time means that your domain(s) will be transferred directly to enom.com as a batch transfer which means you will lose access to your domain, so please do not wait and transfer now.

When I try to unlock this domain at ENOM I get this msg :
Failed to get Registrar Lock Status

Anyone received this email about any of your domains?

First, make sure it's not a phishing scam. I wouldn't click the links inside the email, in case it links to a fraudulent site which will attempt to trick you into entering your password and steal it.

Calling eNom yourself to ask is the best idea. In the US, call 1.425.974.4689 (http://www.enom.com/aboutus.asp)

And about Pocketdomains, this is the registrar which often catches the good .info domains that are dropping. If you watch the .info drops, I think you would see them in the WHOIS quite often. Aren't they owned by eNom?

I think the number I posted above might work outside of the US as well, but I'd guess you'd have to pay the long distance rate. I hope they do reply soon, anyhow.

The emails *ARE LEGIT*!

We *ARE* disconnecting from the COM/NET drop pools.

The way drop pools work is one entity manages the drop *AND* the domains they catch. In other words if you check Internic you will see your domains *ARE NOT* registered at the registrar you are managing your domain at, they *ARE* registered at one of our registrars.

Again, this is how the Drop Catch Pools work, and how things get "cleaned up" when a registrar pulls out of the catch pool.

Which is where we sent thus email from. We have not finished sending emails out, there are MANY more on their way.

Curious - why are you removing yourself from the drop-pools if it is "unfortunate?"

I'm sure I do not understand your question.

We are removing ourselves from the COM/NET drop pool, which is why the only domains involved are COM/NET. We are doing this because the cost far outweighs the benefits these days. Very few are bidding up dropped domains and more and more domains in all TLDs are going though "transfer fullfillment". Running registrars in the drops is *VERY* expensive.

Its my understand many private registrars are pulling their connections or are now considering it for the same reasons.

Simply put, it's just not worth it anymore.


PS I've completed sending out all the email notifications.

Yes, I had been hoping this could all get done without anybody having any concerns, but in the end there are a lot of domains and people involved.

If anybody knows of any thread in other forums that I need to post at *PLEASE* let me know. I've posted here, DNF, DS, and Rick's board so I'm hoping that pretty much gets at everyone.

PLEASE NOTE:

I've just disconnected our registrar ALFENA from ENOM a few minutes ago.

Disconnection of IGNITELA and YENKOS are being delayed.

If you have any domains in ALFENA you will *NOT* be able to manage them anymore via your enom admin panel. Fortunately there are very few domains left.

THANK YOU ALL for helping us with the disconnection and transfering your domains out.

If you have any domains in ALFENA just send us and EMAIL and we will assist you in transfering them out. Please note however that the ENOM admin panel shold still show the correct auth code so you should be able to transfer to any other registrar (except enom) without our assistance. But if you need it just ask!
