I created "Batteries For Life" at batterieslife.com - this is really a bunch of smaller Amazon astores for selling all different types of batteries. My hope is that it can be relatively self sustaining as Amazon will be able to update the inventory and provide product reviews.

Please provide any feedback on visuals, site experience etc. - all comments welcomed.

Your nav bar is melting with whatever writing you have in the background. (FF 2.0.0.11)
The general layout of the site is a bit late 90's early 2000 and should be adjusted to reflect a little more the current standards of web design. It doesn't have to be all web 2.0, but at least a hint of modernism would be appealing to the eye.
Your left hand side bar is exceeding the length of the main content window and reaches into your footer. Side bar(s) and main content should have the same length, especially when you consider the really well concealed yellow color ;)
The site could benefit from a favicon, ideally a battery or +/- symbols, or something else that can visually represent your site in a 16x16 format.
Your side bar navigates with ease and once clicked on a product, the main content window takes over, drawing the focus towards price/add to cart. Well done on this.

Bottom line, the UI needs a decent overhaul to come up to 2008, the content and presentation of which, is typically amazon - and they know relatively well what they're doing.

I think mikes got it spot on there.

With a few adjustments could be a decent site. One positive I would say to keep - the left hand side links are extremely easy to read and make for easy navigating, just polish it up and it'll be fine.

Cheers, 2C x

Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciate it.

1) The site is a mess in Firefox, I hadn't looked at that before. I fixed some, but am going to have someone who's a better programmer than myself look at it to help me out.
2) After seeing some other examples, I agree that my layout is a bit dated. I am going to work on a revamped template for some other projects I'm considering.
3) Could you clarify what you mean about 16X16 content and a favicon?

favicon in the usual 16x16 size, and choose an image that represents your site/content or logo ;) sorry, wasn't clear enough on that.

Maybe too much empty space for my gusto, but on the other hand it´s fast and intuitive. Maybe you could display some special action prizes, some more technical info about random products about your delivery prizes etc. etc.
