Hi there

First impression was that it looks friendly to use.

On closer look I thought of a few points:

I have a large issue with your navigation: When I roll over them, it comes up with the navigation. This is very ambiguous and hard to use. How am I supposed to know that the navigation links are there when they are hidden and only visible when I roll over some images?

It is a good idea to view the website as someone brand new to your site and doesn't know how it works. You have done a good move by getting it reviewed here :)

I 100% think that you should have the navigation visible at all times without rollover.

The box around the navigation on the left has an inner colour of green. I don't think you need that.

The link colour seems a bit out of place with the other colours. Perhaps just straight black or blue?

Is this page just a front for the forum? If so, perhaps to save your coding time, there may be a vbulliten plugin for a homepage. There may also be some documentation so you can do includes from the forum on the main page. This may help people get slightly familiar with the forum before they get there. It is a bit of a visual shock to go from the homepage to a completely new look when you click on a navigation link.

A welcome message would be nice.

Regarding the coding, check out my signature link. You have made this using imageready, which is cool but are you familiar with the code yourself?

Actually why don't you just get rid of the rounded boxes. I like the top and bottom bars. Perhaps you could have a line on the left going from top to bottom and put the navigation in that area? Maybe with some more fades...

I've just had a quick look over your website - and yes, Joomla would be a great alternative. Your website has the default Joomla look so moving things over won't be hard. I've been using Joomla for my website for a long time, and it is very easy to use.

You will have to use PHPBB if you want to incorporate the forum with the website, which could be hard since you already have an established forum.

That's good!

If the forums are able to be easily integrated then that could be a could idea as it leaves you room for easy expansion within Joomla.

There may be some forum convertors between e.g vBulletin and phpBB.
