Picking up an expired domain - Question?

I've been scouting some domains and came across a domain with the following information at GoDaddy;

NOTICE: This domain name expired on 08/27/2012 and is pending renewal or deletion.

However, when I go the Whois it says;

Domain Transfer Escrow Service
Sedo.com One Broadway, 14th floor Cambridge MASSACHUSETTS

United States

Does this mean I've missed the boat and someone has purchased the domain? The domain currently has a Godaddy parking page.

One explanation might be that this domain was already sold to someone, and it got pushed into the Sedo escrow account at GoDaddy, but for some reason they never pushed it to the buyer

The buyer might not have paid for the domain or forgot to accept the transfer.

If it hits Godaddy auction and if it's a good one, it will attract eyeballs and may even jar the buyer's memory.
