Lately I’ve noticed my script Server Status 2k being released as nulled on some sites, the strange thing is that the script is encoded using ioncube encoder which I paid allot for and is meant to be impossible to decode the original source code, but it seems these people have and are releasing it for free, downloads have popped up everywhere and I’m almost powerless to stop it.

So far the only place I have been able to have it removed from is megaupload.com so far its still hosted on sites such as rapidshare.de and fixdown.com.

Rapidshare is very disappointing they are meant to be a legit upload and download company, but they do not have an abuse line or e-mail, I e-mailed them 2 days ago and I’m yet to hear a reply.

Fix down and its various other offshoots seem to be hosted in china so I don’t know if there is any law there regarding illegal copies of software? I have e-mailed them but I don’t think I’m going to get a reply.

I have found some hosting companies which are using the script, I have reported them to there datacenters but im still waiting for replies to all the datacenters which have servers with illegal copies.

This is really getting to me I’ve sold 150 copies, the script costs $19.95 a week ago it was $15.95 which is very cheap for what it does, after looking at these sites and finding illegal copies I would estimate there have been over 200 distributed! That’s more than I have sold so far :td: so I’m not very happy...

Can anyone recommend where I can go from here?

I am sorry to hear that man, I like your script, I know lorne, I saw your script for the first time on his site ;) As for the china site, I do not know if you can do anything about that, maybe someone else will be able to tell you.
But for american hosted sites, you can always report them to the datacenter, and they will 99.9% of the time remove it, I know I do this sort of thing on a weekly basis.

also, if you encoded it with ioncube and they decoded it, I would contact ioncube and inquire about this? and tell them you are not very happy about it, and you would like some sort of explination, as you spent good money to protect your script and it doesnt look like it worked ;)

fixdown.com report to: [email protected]
http://whois.sc/210.21.110.19

looks like you need to trace down everyone that gave it as hacked copy and warn them or if you can upgrade the said script and post a new version on your site that's the least thing you can do as you have said the ioncube code got hacked.

publish also on the main page where you sell the said script that there are unscrupulous websites that does not want to cooperate with you and humiliate them publicly on your site and tell also on that page, that you will remove their site from your page until they delete the offending warez on their site.

also this ip 210.21.110.19 has a spam issue right now.

rapidshare.de report to: [email protected]

http://whois.sc/80.237.244.50

good luck, hoping this problem will be solved.

:( :imho:

have you contacted ioncube about it? just let them know maybe they got another trick under their sleeve, for sure it was hacked on purpose brute force. :)

phpfreebies is using codelock
http://www.codelock.co.nz/
i dunno if it's much powerful or what but it leaves one file for you not to be distributed and it contains all the decoding procedure but that one file is needed.

ioncube php encoder 6.5 is released:

Encoding your scripts does not mean that it cannot be redistrubuted. If you want to limit distrubution to certain domain names, you'll have to add licinsing software, such as phpaudit or olate iono. I've coded my own for my script, ZIHS.

Man this is too much.

I am also in this business. I also sell scripts that are around $299/- Per copy. And somedays ago I got an order for it.

The member ordering it was not a verified paypal member.

So as a precuation. I sent him corrupted zip file :D specially created for this kind of people.

And I try to gain some time by doing this.

I don't recommend this as you can also lose potential customers. But I depends on whom you are dealing with.

I still have elite craking team on my back.

They are ordering my scripts and then releasing it to the underground forums.

I would also like to hear something about this.

I live in India and am not able to do much about this crackers.

I saw your script it is a nice one. And i can understand how much it hurts when something like this happens. I have also been through this.

I designed my own licensing system for the script, and encoded the script using ioncube encoder to stop it being removed, they have decoded ioncube and removed the licensing system part from the script.

I seriously wonder.. When one of my client sends out spam from my server, my server people contact me to look into & shutdown the server if i dont respond promptly.

Dont really understand how massive warez forums like projectw etc are allowed to stay on web!

unfortunately such encoders can ussually be bypassed, Zend encoder recently had a flaw discovered in it also that enabled someone to retrieve the code.

That is pretty crappy seeming you pay like $1000 for it :td:

As for warez sites most are allowed to be around because they only link to the warez, they do not actualy host them..

Its fairly easy to get rid of files from sites like that, normaly they link to a download site like megaupload which you can just submit an abuse request and the file is removed within the next hour or so..

Are you sure someone didnt get a dev version that wasn't encoded? I have a few devs set up and maybe someone hacking into your dev site if you have one. Have you actually seen the package that's warez? Also how much did you encode on it? Did you do one page or the entire package? I run ioncube with phpaudit so I would love to get more info from you on this.

You can never encode a script in such a way that it can't be decoded but can still be run. But it's a piss poor encoder that doesn't obscure things better, such as randomizing variable names. Looks like about the only thing it did before converting to byte code is to remove you comments.

Is that like a legitimate shoplifting company?

You probably won't. The reason the Chinese economy is doing so well is that they devote all their resources to pirating software rather than waste it on answering emails.

Don't report them to their data centres, sue them! You can get mega bucks in punitive damages from these guys. Even the smallest hosting company has to got to have enough money to make it worth your while. At the very least offer to let them settle with you for a few grand to avoid legal action.

D-: thats a pretty bold statment!
And as for sueing them, If there not one of the major hosts, your going to spend more money on legal fees then it would be worth ;)

well some unscrupulous being not majority of chinese seems like it's the same case on all countries. there's a victim and there's the abuser. 2 types always - good and bad.

it is not the same case in all countries.
the problem exists in all countries, but China is #1 in piracy, from films/dvds to music and software.
Recently, Arnold and J.Chan did a free ad against piracy to raise awareness in China.

More in topic, what is the liability from ioncube? I would contact them and ask for assistance as well.

Generally when you win a case hands down like this the looser pays your legal fees. Seriously, if it's a small host you stand to walk away with everything he owns.

I guess it seems that anything is possible to decode, and once it gets to a warez forum, its almost impossible to stop the spread of it, because they will just host it using another host.
