I was curious what you guys are getting on CTR on average from Parking versus
Mini-Sites with with Google Adsense. For example, I average about 20% CTR parking a domain name and than when I move that same domain name to a Mini-Site, I get about 1% CTR. Therefore, parking is about 20x higher CTR and I have tested this on about 15 different domains all which get 100 or more uniques a day.

Thanks, Jim

My minisite/photo blogsite gets more clicks or income that it was parked.

Probably the following reasons:
1. Proper ad placement.
2. Blog is constantly updated with unique content.

If you think about the factors behind it you understand why. If someone types in your domain they expect to find something. If all they find is a list of ads and one of those ads is about what they wanted, they click. It doesn't matter if what they wanted was information or to buy something, they have to click to move on to where the real site is. On a minisite however if all they wanted was information they've already got it without clicking. They only click if they actually want to buy.

Basically CTR (ratio of clicks to visitors) drops when you move to a minisite from a parked site. However RPM (revenue per thousand visitors) often increases enough to outweigh the difference.

If the only people who click are people interested in buying, evenually your traffic quality score goes up and you will get paid more for every click. At first you will make less money when you develop a good type in name, but over time the tide turns and you will make more. (assuming you didn't do a horrific job of building the website)

My "parked" sites have a much higher CTR that my "mini-sites". The numbers are very similar to your analysis.

The only other observation I could lend would be that my parking traffic dwindles and my mini-site traffic grows over time.

great explanation blaknite. So it comes down to, do you want to earn for the short term or the long term?

Like others here, I see higher CTR's with parked domains, but ultimately higher traffic and earnings from mini sites.

For me, with it being so easy to toss up some optimized pages and get a few backlinks to them I tend to go with developing mini sites over parking.

The only exception is when I pick up a domain with the intentions of flipping it fast. In those cases I not looking long-term so why invest the time to develop it or build links when I can just park it.

It's all about your goals and intentions I suppose.
