If you have a typo and want to optimize your traffic use cpa offers with good landers end of story. my typos where making 30 bucks a day before with parking companies but i optmized it to make 300 bucks a day 10 x increase. You need a lot of traffic thou atleast 5k a day in typos

So you make $300/day from typos and say that parking is dead? I'm confused...

I think he means that he's having better luck using CPA-style parking (like Redirect.com) as opposed to the older PPC-style parking (like Voodoo.com, DomainApps.com..etc)

Oh ok, gotcha.

I must have missed that part.

It's not dead. I have typos that generate $30+ clicks all day long.

What dead is the lack of information being shared by professionals.

Can you please tell more what kind of domain names get type-in traffic?

I've been involved in this whole domain parking thing for less than a week, so I'm an amateur right about now.Not sure if I'm doing this completely wrong..

I've grabbed a few typo domains (some .cm tld) and some generic.. all in Alexa top 500
I'm averaging anywhere from 1-15 visits per day per day per domain. I've only made a grand total of $0.01 so far from 7 searches and 1 click :(

so to take an example of a typo I've got.. it's in Alexa top 10. the real site is receiving ~6 mill views per day.. Now the typo isn't brilliant but I thought it's fair to imagine that 0.001% of people at least might slip across an extra key..So 0.001% of 6 mill is 60 uniques per day (i know 6mill isnt all type in traffic) but still.

Yet the site in question is only receiving approx 6 visitors per day.. Is that the realistic amounts that other people have been seeing, or have I got a lot more to learn about picking typos?

Appreciate any advice from seasoned guys

some sites will be seasonal.
like if you have a news website typo then some days it may get as high as 100 visitors and some days very few.

one more point
Who is typing to go for website. if i have to go to any website i will type in google... first search result will be that website then i go to that website.

user tends to type only sites with short name of say 3 to 5 letters.

third point
if you are new to parking and u found a typo .
first think why this has been not registered yet as we have lot of domainers with eagle eye n tools. the answer will be that typo is not worth .

Agreed, however all my domains are not seasonal, traffic should be consistent

personally, I rarely type in a website, maybe 5% of the time, othertimes it's bookmark or via search, especially in age of browser auto completion, chrome, firefox eg.. I thought parking would of been dead years ago..:) the only reason I decided to give it a shot is seeing some screenshots of earnings shared by a few guys here, and to try something new.. I'm not expecting huge earnings at all, even breaking even would be OK

Yes, with one of the domains I have registered..I wont post the name since i dont think u can whilst being parked.. but it is like "faceboojk.com". (with similar traffic to facebook) I saw that it had previously been registered and dropped, which I thought was some indicator that whoever had brought it wasn't earning from it- so really i should avoid it..(as you said)

but I just can't understand how more people aren't making typo on a top website like that....other sites are a bit more niche with .cm tld, and never been registered, and they are doing a bit better, but overall performance is pretty bad

It seems you are new to this. If you like yourself drop your Facebook typo immediately, or they will come after you.

Does anyone know of any actual data published by large domainers on either parking or parking typos, it seems like everyone says parking is dead but I haven't seen any hard data to prove it's either dead or that it was ever alive?

Have you seen the posts above about parking? I know people making $30 - $100 clicks all the time.

If you want to know if it's alive, jsut check my bank account and that wll answer it for you.

Smurge always misses the point............ when ordinary domainers say parking is dead they are actually dead right..... becuase they are comparing their results now with what there used to be.

In the old days any old crap domain would earn you some income whereas now, finding domains which would make you decent amount of money require special skills and specialised tools which are in the hands of a limited number of domain professionals -- I could easily claim that parking was not dead if "Smurge" lent me his software to search for income generating domains myself - it would be a piece of cake for me to do that, had I had what he has available in his arsenal....!

What I would say is $100/click doesn't digest...

So is bigslim saying that the only option is to "optimize" the domain yourself? And what do you mean by optimize? Optimize ads on the landing page? Completely develop and market the site as a blog?
Or is Redirect.com a viable option?

I agree that the parking companies are slow to move to things like targetted banners, CPA and retargetting, which could be a great source of revenue.
