Parking in the .asia namespace

In a previous post we have had a look at the proportion of parked domains in the mobi namespace.
Now let's have a look at .asia.

First off my analysis indicates that 156201 names are registered at present, I don't know where the 300K+ figure comes from. Maybe it's names that are to be auctioned or that are not activated yet. I don't know.
(Reminder: domain names with no name servers are missing from the zone files).

Anyway, here is the report.

Please search in google for site:.asia you can find all the .asia developed sites..

It looks like fewer names are parked under .asia than .mobi. IMO it is not surprising as mobi has been hyped much more among domainers. The fact that a larger proportion of .asia names may be with end users does not mean they will be active. Large corporations will often protect their names thru defensive registrations and be done with it.
