Painful to Watch

Just ran across this auction at eBay. This is a tough one to watch. The guy has 28 .coms - say he spent $200 on regs. Than paid to have a special Category/ Premium Gallery listing and at 30min left _:

Oh. I'm not saying they are good names, but, at least at one point, he thought they were and by paying for an exclusive listing, he must have had still seen some promise for them.

I listed domains to sell at ebay and frustrated! A lot of fees there!

I never put up a domain for sale on ebay, is it really that bad?

reserve price

If the seller really cared, he would have put in a reserve price. He might be happy now that he has pizza money. Besides, sellers can alway cancel their auction prior to its end as long as no one bid.

I wonder if this holds true when the reserve has not been met?

I think he did care, as I was one of the bidders and received multiple emails reminding me the auction was ending soon. I'm sorry I didn't bid again.

eBay can be good

eBay can be a good auction house if you have a list of prospective buyers you can send invitation to bid letters to in advance.

Those WSOP domains are worthless. I own a few of them (better names than were listed) and get very little traffic. Also there is a TradeMark on WSOP and Harrahs is going have the people who own 2005WSOP, 2006WSOP , etc. If you do get a hold of a really good WSOP expect to battle it out with harrah's.

I only tried it once with 3 names I have and didn't get a single bid :( better to sell them cheaper here without the fees :hehe:

That's great advice if you have a large stable of endusers that you have sold names to and/or if you are dealing, primarily, in high end names and have a list of speculator's that you have had past dealings with, (assuming that your prospective buyers list is drawn from people you have previously sold names to.) My list of buyers covers such a diverse range of interest areas, and the names are so varied, that it would make little sense for me to send out invitations to come and take a look at my eBay auction to more than one or two of them at a time. (I agree, however, that it wouldn't hurt to do so.) It is doubtful that the engineering company that bought an RFID name, would have much interest in phishzilla or a poker name. I suppose one could Google and research the market for prospective buyers, but I've tried this approach on a direct sales basis and have had little response back and $0 sales to show for the effort.

But I'm all ears. Do you have any tidbits to pass along, as to how you derived your list of prospects?

:bingo: [light clicks on] It just struck me! Of course. There is a way.
