I have been selling a bunch of my first regs, trying to recoup some of my costs. Some of these names have just expired in the last couple days. It seems that I retain the exclusive option to renew them for awhile, and that during that period no one else can reg them. So here's my question...
I know I don't "own" them anymore, but do I have the right (legal? ethical?) to continue offering these names for sale - while I retain the exclusive right to renew them? If I don't have the right to sell them, why does TDNAM, Snap, Pool, and Namejet have it? Aren't they doing the same thing?
If I sell an expired domain (assuming the answer above is "yes I have the right"), will I be able to push/transfer it to the new owner without first renewing it?
I recently transferred to Godaddy one of my domains that expired at enom. I didn't think I could do it (enom told me I couldn't) but I tried anyway (because it was a .tv and I pay 19.99 for .tv renewals at GD vs. 49.99 at enom ~ sidepoint) and it worked. So apparently it can be done - but maybe this was a fluke.
