Patrick Gavin’s ReviewMe.com is live now. It’s a service for bloggers to earn some extra spare change by reviewing services or products in their blogs... solving (among many other things!) the problem of banner blindness, while introducing (among many other things!) the problem of mixed content/ advertising. What happens is that you as blogger sign up for the service and are then offered to review certain products, with each review earning you from $20 to $200. You can pick which products you like to review, e.g. to pick only what you deem relevant for your blog community.

Pretty neat idea for ReviewMe.com, but it has been recently in the news(at least in business week) where a lot of companies are paying bloggers to post rave reviews about their products, and to hype it up. Quite a number of them got discovered though, and their reputation got shot.

There are quite a number of people offering to pay people money to post on their blogs or forums. Unfortunately, many of these are scams as many have complained that after posting and expecting payment, they never receive any money. Or even if they do get any, it is only once. Some have gotten only a portion of what they were promised. Many have tried to make contact with those who run these 'paid to' programs and usually get nowhere. Caution should be excercised when taking up any offer to receive payment for posting to blogs. It is usually best to find others who have done business with the blog owners and who can vouch that they did in fact receive payment on more than one occasions.

Regarding Reviewme.com, I am going to try it out and see what happens. I will make a post of my findings later here on NamePros.com and on my Program Critic Blog.

I have tried out Reviewme.com and so far have reviewed the site itself. My review was accepted and now I am awaiting payment. You may see my review on my All About Computers Blog. My only concern is the time frame within which other websites will request reviews. The option to receive alerts by email has been checked, but to date no other site has requested a review. There are many sites that are a part of Reviewme.com who fall into the category I chose.

Let's just wait and see what happens. By the way, I have posted the above statement on my Program Critic Blog.
