Pages indexed dropped from 15,000 to 80

use to have 15,000 pages indexed, which was a bit high, but over the last 2-3 weeks the number of pages indexed has dropped significantly, it dropped to 500, and i thought it had stablised around 400 but again it has dropped and now i am seeing 80 pages indexed only, it is a directory site but it is a unique directory (not a dmoz clone)

any suggestions would be great
(i have spent 1 year on this site- I don't want it to dissappear )

This has been going on with G. for quite some time now, most people I know complain about dissapearance of their sites and lost traffic. Seems we can only hope this will one day be fixed again...
