OK...I've been a part-timer for about 3 months now. Thanks to finding NP, I'm learning more and more daily.

I would like to know more about page rank. What exactly is it? How do sites rank? What distinguishes a P1 from a P2? How can it be increased?

I'm sure this has been discussed, but I can't find it here.

In short PageRank is a “vote”, by all the other pages on the Web, about how important a page is. A link to a page counts as a vote of support. If there’s no link there’s no support (but it’s an abstention from voting rather than a vote against the page).

yeah to make it a little simpler.. if my site which id a pr4 has a link to ur site that will increase ur PR.. the objective is to get ur link on as many high PR sites as possible.. in all PR doesnt really make a huge diff, it simply lets you know that your site is listed on several other sites, which in tern gives it a page rank (popular) rating

Pagerank is ranking technology by Google.
It depends on number of one-way links you have..

To increase PR, you need to buy one-way quality links from higher PR sites

u dont ahve to buy them man.. all my linkbacks are from high pr sites that simply did a link exchange with me.. start there.. dont stress off their pr.. get as many link exchanegs going on as u can.. eventually a few of tehm will get high pr rakings and in tern u will get high PR

First decide, do you need top listing or you need high PR, if you need high PR then you get more one way links.

If you want top listing then do link exchanging with same category website or get some one way links, also add some out going links to, good same category content rich sites. Try to add your site in web directories, then do some blogs in same category blogs.
