Outragoues! $35,000 for the domain name containing my name?!

My name is Gary King. I wanted to buy my firstnamelastname.com from its current owner. Imagine my dismay when they responded back saying that they would charge $35,000 USD and the offer expired in one day, because they are using it as an advertising business.

Can this single domain name really be that valuable to them? Can someone please explain this to me?

I think even Gary.com sold in the last 2 weeks for only $29k , listed on Dnjournal.com
why not buy garyking in another extension? like .info or .mobi or .net for regfee or a little more.
or even gking?
