I managed to grab an alexa ranked domain ranked 91 that I backordered through godaddy...

Now I'm kinda new to this.. if it's alexa ranked 91 does this mean it's valuable?.. The domain itself seems kinda strange but I was looking at the traffic for the alexa listing and its very big..

www.mixive.net

Is this thing worth anything really?
If so .. would you recommend selling it or using the traffic to amass income or.... what would you do..

*shrug*

Just looking for advice

Oh and thanks Dre.. you rock

I think it is always useful to examine the name on its own merits and mixive sounds like something you put in a concrete mixer

I'm asking more about the alexa value and the traffic.. alexa 91 i understand is hard to find consider yahoo is #1?

Check the Alexa again, its actually for the .FR version.

Seems like a good catch, but it will be actual traffic that determines value.

yeah thats what isa confusing me RJ when I go to Alexa I and enter mixive.net I get alexa ranked 91.. but yeah it shows something about free.fr Im confused .. what does all this mean... When you say good catch do you mean decent or pretty good or really good?

If it's indeed a large traffic catcher.. which I'll know because I just parked with Seod what could a domain like that be worth.. I'm new to stuff like this and still learning so anyone wanting to teach me I'm open ears..

By "good catch" I mean I would have gladly paid the GoDaddy backorder fee to catch it.

The alexa rating actually belongs to http://mixive.free.fr/ The .NET you caught was formerly redirected to that domain, so it is grouped into the same Alexa rating.

Value will depend on the traffic your name gets since there's no way to determine it from the Alexa stats.

seems odd they would let it drop then...

Perhap's they'd like to buy it back? LOL

So you would have grabbed this too?.. ok I'll keep you updated on its traffic once the dns resolves to sedo.

I also note that on

http://mixive.free.fr/#

The email listed is [email protected]

which I now control

Go look at the archive.org listing. I don't read French but... Also, does it have any PR?

Might be a traffic catcher.

says no google pagerank on any of these pr test sites.. hrmm..

I dont read french either.. but just because it doesnt have pr rank.. doesnt mean it doesnt get traffic...

I guess I'll find out once the nameservers resolve

hahha at the top of the french version it still says mixive.net

someone has already clicked a link on mixive.net and made me ten cents at sedo.com heh

I regged DrsJobs.com that, at the time, had a pretty good Alexa (around 100 maybe) but it never, ever received any traffic. The alexa doesn't mean anything whatsoever if the domain gets no traffic.

DrsJobs.com was like this - forwarded to another website. I can't recall it exactly but do an archive.org and you'll see.

Yeah I'm not sure.. FGuess I'll just have to wait and see... So far the Dns has resolved I think somewhat but sedo is still verifying reg.

Yeah I found an expired domain similar to that (although not nearly that high an Alexa rating). I search in Alexa, it comes up, and it's a different site. None of that traffic will continue over though, will it?
